ITB Questions (I searched)
Ok, I just got some ITB's from a 2001 CBR 929RR for a DIY ITB project, I know, I jumped on that bandwagon too.
Anyway my first question is when I got the ITB's there was a note in it from the guy I got it from saying not to use a cleaner on the throttle bodies because there is a teflon coating (looks like a black gasket sealer) in there and if it is removed they will not heat seal properly. I have not had the time to take my car apart to see if my stock throttle body has this too. And since these are a few years old, not all of the teflon is there either, so I was thinking of just spraying some cleaner in there and remove everything anyway. Is this a bad idea?
The second question is, on the assembly there is a mechanism that looks like it could be a FITV (fast idle thermo valve), in rice4life's DIY write up he removed that part and used the remainder to control idle instead of using the real idle control screw. I was thinking about keeping the whole thing on there since I live in the chicago area where it can get pretty cold in the winter. Is it a FITV?
by the way, this is not going on my car for a while, it is part of a very long term project
