What's the best resin release to use on a vertical trunk liner surface?

Default What's the best resin release to use on a vertical trunk liner surface?

That's basically it in a nutshell.

This is on a vertical and very contoured side panel inside a trunk, so I can't very easily lay plastic sheeting down in there before I lay down the fiberglass.

What do you recommend?

Duct tape with vasalene (sp) or greese rubbed onto it. cheap, but effective.

I've tried duct tape in the past but the problem with it is that when the resin is curing and heats up, it melts the adhesive on the duct tape into the carpet and then is almost impossible to get out of the carpet.

How do you get around this problem?

use masking tape, that is what I use for custom sub boxes in the shop.

Thanks for the tip...i'll try that out.

Masking tape has a lot less adhesive on it; hopefully that'll be the right trick!

Paper masking tape is made to be stuck on surfaces that can't be damaged. It'll work like a charm. The adhesive isn't that strong anyway.
