I'll start with a couple

Pro - More Top End Power

Con - More Wear On Engine Parts

What I like about the hi revving engines is that you get decent fuel economy when your in the low rev ranges, then you have decent power when you rev it higher, best of both worlds.

as superficial as it sounds, i love how it screams. You can take so few cars up to 8k rpms, its like a privlidge. But having an engine that revs that high will naturally burn some oil. good out weighs the bad in my book

HP=TORQUE * RPM / 5252

Since our engines don't make a lot of torque compared to larger displacement motors, we make up for this loss by using high revs. SImple as that

Cons are of course more engine wear and more precision materials used to handle the extra speed

Pro:

Fuel Economy (low vacuum when low load), compactness and light weight.

Con:

Louder, more vibration, less tolerance for precision error, less tolerance for neglegence, more wear in ignitions, belts, bearing, ring, etc.

Remember, engine rev and displacement are sized for a reason, you have to make a compromise between different application and no one single design is going to outdo the others in all application.
