Are you producing big blue clouds?? Do you eat a liter of oil every week? If not, I think you're ok. If so, you must be turbo'd

black soot isn't really a sign of oil, but a sign of running rich. Take your plugs out and tell us what they look like....

True. How much oil do you have to add?

Burning oil seems to be a normal on ITR's. Ask everyone in here who's does it and you'll find out 90% of them will say yes. I'll usually have to add a quart or 2 before I am due for an oil change. The most annoying part is keeping your bumper clean. That and having to keep telling people on a daily basis that your car is fine and is normal.

Don't panic.

How much oil are you using, judging by the dipstick?

Do you still have a cat, or have you made other exhaust changes?

Did this start just now? Suddenly? Or has it been building up over a long period?

Most of us found that there was some oil consumption even when new. I have had my car since zero miles (the dealer was afraid to drive it 'til I showed up), and it has always used a little oil.

Mine has always used oil even with the stock cast pistons. I have forged now. It seems when I drive harder it uses a little more. I would just get into the habit of checking it weekly and you should not have any problems. You could actually do some trend monitering and actually determine how much you are using.

As far as the smoke, black smoke is fuel, blue is oil, you are probably running rich. When mine was stock OBD2 it ran rich and I adjusted it with a VAFC to lean it a little. Now that I am boosted I use Uberdata and am still in the process of tuning.

I would be worried if you are seeing blue smoke out of the tail pipe as that is the sign things are starting to go bad. If that is the case determine what it is and get it fixed. I would also take it easy until you know. Hope this helps.

According to Honda UK, 1 liter per 1000 miles is considered acceptable, so your way under that amount. On my last integra i used to burn 7 quarts between 5k services...i finally had to get the whole motor rebuilt and it never burned a drop after that!

I'm having the same issues with mine and I'm running all stock with 95k miles on a 01... My car naturally burnt oil and about the same amount when I run the car at wot. I check my oil levels every morning before I start the car and warm it up every morning before driving and it has gradually started to smoke and deposit dark sud on my back bumper... I'm really thinking its my piston rings and if i'm gonna open the head and change those things out I might as well do some engine work also.........

I just switched from Mobil1 to Castrol GTX thinking I'd burn less. I was wrong. I drove about 500 miles on Friday and burned about a quart. That's the same, if not worse, than what I was burning on Mobil1.
