Broke my trunk release lock (exterior one)
It was an especially hot day (if that matters), and I went to put my back pack in the ef wanna be trunk. I turned with the normal force. It was way tense in the begining and then snapped. At first I though I broke my key, but turns out my trunk release broke. There is no tension when I turn the key, but I can still open it using the lever by the driver door.
Anyone know how to fix this? I can see it becoming really annoying and I wanna know if Ill need to take a trip to the dealership or if I can do this myself
Thanks all

Well I fixed it. If anyone wants to know, keep on reading.
If you open the trunk and look on the interior wall that the tail lights are on, there will be two rectanglular pices of plastic that snap on and off. Remove the one on the right. When you turn the key in the trunk opener lock, you should see a white piece of plastic with a hoop (seemed pointless) attacked to a U-shaped clip. I had to reach into the center between the plastic and car frame and found a metal rod. It snaps right into the u-clip
Presto
