Default Yes another question on Valvetrain

Buddy of mine asked me a question about my valve train . I have asked him to help me do the valve adjustment job that I have posted about earlier (thanks to all those that lent me a hand on that one , thanks guys) He asked me if the honda motors have "No tollerance" where in the event the timing belt breaks , do the pistons slam into the valves . Or does the valves have enough clearance , so in the event of a the belt breaking the pistons don't connect with the valves .

I would be really curious to hear too, if someone knows, my guess is that w/ stock pistons, and the lift and duration being stock that it wouldn't contact but esp. w/ high compression, domed pistons it would, I really have no idea though

It happened to someone I know. Belt broke and it killed his head including valves.

It'll bend em. My local honda dealer has a display case of bent valves.
It's kinda funny.

I've heard you can get lucky at idle and might get away with no damage. If out on the top the top end your not so lucky!!!

interference engine. generally if the belt goes your engine will be looking at rebuilding some parts.
