Default S2000 performance exhaust?

Im looking to buy a performance exhaust for my s2000, I would like to keep the dual setup and reveal a nice motorbike roar that the engine has. I dont want the car to sound too deep at idle and am liking the HKS style tailpipes, based on this info can anyone recommend me an exhaust? Or do you recommend getting one custom built?

Below is an example of the tips I had in mind, not really looking for the burnt tips thou!

Thanks guys

HKS = one of my favorite sounding exhausts on this car. It gives no power, but shaves off ~13 pounds. Used, it will fetch for around $500-550 USD.

If you have enough money to buy an S2000, there is no point in buying cheap mufflers. Borla and comptech are a little pricey but nice quality exhausts!

The problem with exhausts on the S2000 is that most of them do not net you much power at all. When looking to replace the S2000's exhaust system, one area where you really *can* gain a benefit is in the area of weight savings.

To accomplish this (and net a few ponies) I would suggest looking at a Titanium constructed cat-back system. If you want to maintain the dual tips some of the ones that I would suggest are:

- Powerhouse Amuse (I have their R1 Titan Extra on my S and love it)
- J's Racing Dual RS is going to be coming out soon.
- Mugen's Dual Titanium is also a favorite

I have a Spugen Dual tip, with a T1R testpipe. Everyone I know says it sounds like a bike when it opens up, b/c it screams. I'm acctually trying to sell it b/c I just went with a very large turbo setup on my car so I need bigger pipes. Email me at Brandon.Johnson3 at gmail.com if you're intested.

i think the amuse dual r1 sounds friggin nice. it's a good 2500 for the exhaust alone tho, so i dont know if u want to pay that much.

Yeah thats the motorbike scream I want, shame about the price thou, im looking for something closer to 1k. I live in the UK so shipping may be expensive, I shall have to get advice from you guys and try and buy over here.

How do you rate the mugen exhaust?

which dual setup would give me a bit of extra power? I hear power gains can only really be made from a single pipe. Is this pretty much true?

I can't speak for everyone else, but my Spugen has a proven power gain, plus I have the T1R test pipe on there. It's a good bit faster with those two on there.

I have the Amuse dual and I can attest that eMpAtHy is correct. It sounds great. I actually had a single on the car before I put the Amuse on and in my opinion the single was annoyingly loud (which I never thought I would hear myself say ). I know that mine nets about 4 horsepower (which is pretty much as good as it gets for any dual exhaust on this car), but more importantly saves me about 40 lbs in weight.

I have to take a look at the claimed numbers for the Mugen, but my GUESS is that (like many Mugen products) you won't see much top end gain. It will however (again this is conjecture on my part so if anyone has dynos from before/after the mugen exhaust please post up) probably net you some good midrange power and move your powerband around a little.

It's true that you will net more power with a single tip, and thats why I went single at first.... just be careful because you may find it annoys you more than you think! :D

I have also heard good things about Spugen's products. I talked to Duc a while back about some exhausts and I found them to be most helpful. In the end their products didn't fit my needt but for good service and (from what I hear) on their exhausts.

Im leaning towards the Invidia, its looks a work of art, gives a 3.7 hp gain apparently and has a good price tag. It has a monsterous noise!!

Anyone know a company that would ship me one to the UK?

Thanks

I'm running a gt35/40r and i'm looking for 550ish on 22-25lbs, and on alki injection
and 30lbs or so i'm looking for over 600. A guy with the same setup made 466 at the wheels with only 15lbs of boost. It's gonna be tuned pretty agressivly.

*Edit - just noticed i'm running a lot of the same **** as you. The axles and what not, i'm ordering the comptech rear diff housing this week. Anything else you'd recomend??

Do you know if invidia do an exhaust like above for the s2k without the blue tips?

Also which CAI would compliment the invidia exhaust well? I take it Invidia do not make their own filters?

Thanks
