Default what to look out for on a DC2?

hello lads, I'm a new user as you can see, I'm planning to acquire a teg in the very near future (no longer than 8 months), as this would be my first Honda ever I'm in quite need of learn some knowledge. I've had quite few cars before, but I would like to enjoy "younger-crowd" cars before I get too old.

1) How easy it is to swap cluster? I'm trying to buy a stock one to prevent all the possible problems with the car I cannot see with my eyes. And been an ex-VW owner, I've seen how easy it is to cheat on the odo.

2) rust, I'm specifically looking at post 98s, but I live in the Great White North, just how good/bad these cars are with rust?

3) problems, what type of problems I'm expecting to see on a used teg?

4) Availability of GSR 4doors, I know it sounds silly, but a 4dr is rather useful for me, as I've always had 4dr sedans, although not a necessarity, but I do consider one, also for insurance reason.

5) what's the expected price, preferbaly in Cdn fund that I would expect to pay for a mint condition post 98 til '01 GSR? preferabbly under 70k km.

thanks a lot fellas.

ah, I didn't find them in FAQs.

few keywords I've tried returned with information I wasn't looking for. If you can point at what keywords would yield better results then it'll be suave.

let me be the first to say if you pick up a gsr, put an alarm on it immediatly. if you just browse the boards, you will notice that usually at least once a day a thread about someone's gsr getting stolen will appear.

hey man
its quite easy to swap clusters, as is many hondas..so if i were you, i'd do a carfax on the car before you buy it..

rust....if you wash your car regularly, you shouldnt get any rust. i have a 95 gsr with no rust, and im in canada too so im aware of all the salt our cars may encounter. just keep her nice and clean and protected with some kind of protect and you will stay rust free. rememebr, if you buy a car with a bit of rust, chances are it'll spread fairly quickly.

i've had my 95 gsr for almsot 2 years, and i have not had any major problems with it. just remmeber to do regular oil chances and keep the car maintained. also dotn forget about the 100k timing belt, thats a must. i have not had any problems mechanically in the past 2 years, and i drive the car harder than most.

a 4door gsr will be tough to find..you might have to go on a roadtrip just to find a nice one. i dont know about ontario, but in alberta 4dr gsrs are tough to come by. just check out canadatrader.com and you might get lucky.

again, the price will be different cause we dont live in the same province. 98+ gsrs in good condition go from high 14g to 16-17g. all depending on many factors.

hope this helps, shoot me a pm if you like
