looking at swapping a S2000 motor and tranny
title pretty much sums it up...im lookin at swappin an S2000 motor and 6 speed tranny into my CRX....does ne1 know if its possible to do it...i know the engine and tranny will cost me about $3,300 how how much for the instal if it is even possible...thanks
Do you plan on converting the car to RWD? because that's the only way you will be able to get an S2000 engine and gearbox in there.
I say figure about another 10,000 or so for the custom fabrication you'll need to do in order to make it work.

yea i was thinking about transfering it to rwd but i wasn't sure...the K series makes aroudn the same amount rite? about 220-240? i forget if they run fwd or rwd...thanks how much less woudl the K series cost me?
OK I'm not a very die-hard Honda-head but IMO the swap (although it sounds REALLY flippin sweet) seems kinda far fetched. Granted that anything is possible with the right amount of money, you would just be better off going a different route with an engine swap. Now depending on how much money you're looking to spend for a swap, then I'd go with a K series engine or something.
Also, not to bash you or anything, but you sound kinda like you're new to the scene and all but don't worry cause I'm the same way you are: unsure of what I want to swap into my 88 DX hatch. But the best thing to do right now is to search honda-tech for info and save your money like I'm doing. Then when you know what you want to do then start doing it! Just remember to have fun with whatever you want to do with your CRX.

Is this your first Honda swap? If so, I suggest you familiarize yourself with Honda's a little more. Maybe do a couple of D or B Series motor swaps first. Hang out here for awhile and read what people have to say for awhile. Then make an educated decision on whether or not you want to swap this motor in your CRX. Just some ideas to keep you from being flamed here. Welcome to Honda-Tech.
K series transmission does not bolt onto the S2000 motor. The K20a (type R) makes 220hp, and is FWD. It costs about $8,000 in parts (retail) to make it happen. You can get better deals if you find some good hook ups, but a lot of people are looking for those same parts...
RWD is a lot of work. You should probably buy a different car if you want RWD (unless it has to be a CRX)...

i was die hard honda guy for a while and i knew alot...i was gonna get an integra type R but...my friend got me into euro's and the first time i ever rode in a VR6 i couldn't resist so i got a GTI 2.8 VR6 and i was into big into that and ive still got it its my baby...its also a 3.1 and turbo'ed now along with many other mods and its pushin about 430HP...so im back into the honda's cuz i want something new, a project car and my friend and i were looking into it and knew lightweight+high power=blowing ne car away so thats how i ended up asking the question that i am...im deffinatly not new to honda's a know a great deal about them and i hate being treated like "the newbie" that knows nothing cuz i do have some knowledge on this i just wasnt' sure if it was possible

have you guys noticed that everytime it comes up with doing an s2 or nsx motor into another car it is always a noob on trial user status

it'll save you both time and money, but personally...i'd go with a d16y7 swap. slightly less HP, but easier to install. just make sure you check the t420 turbos for shaft play and worn seals prior to the install, and you should be good to go.

if you're going to waste money on a useless swap put an EVO8 motor AWD in a CRX... it'll cost the same in fabrication and give you much more output

I've seen it done only once, in a CRX and the engine was in the Rear.... you best be an amazing mechanic and fab pro welder.

i don't get wtf is up with alot of u ppl...just because it says im a newbie and i have a trial status doesn't mean i don't know ne thing about cars not a single one of u said ne thing about my 3.1 turbo'ed golf, i have knowledge and im not in here to ask which coffee can sounds the best on my car....if i dind't have a shitload of money i wouldn't b asking the question...and thanks for those of u who have taken this seriously isn't of being a-holes...thats the one HUGE thing that i have noticed between EURO and RICE...the Euro ppl always are there and help u out no matter if ur a newb or not...the rice ppl dont' give a **** and consider every person a dumbass except a select few who actually have class and are in forum to find out info and give info instead of busting on ppl for trying to figure out information to get a kickass set-up...we're all in here with the same car so why the ufck would u bust on some1 for asking about a kickass set-up...

No because it's pointless, just like an F20C in a CRX. And as for EURO people being more kind than RICE (whatever that means) the VW people are absolutly no better than the Japanese import guys, or even the American meat heads. I have 2 friends with a newer Golf turbos (1 standard and 1 worked "anniversary" edition) and I browse around the VW forums occaisionally. It's no better or worse than here. You ask stupid questions, you get angry answers. Welcome to the internet. Home of the cowardly brave.
I've asked dumb VW questions and felt equally as **** on, the CRX community is one of the kindest and most helpful next to the DSM community. Don't let this thread bum you out, the more you learn about Honda the more you'll see why the S2000's motor is not worth bothering over.

this post makes me see that your an arrogant bastard that is rich i guess from your qoute unqoute "shitload of money" that had a shop build him a 3.1 turbo golf or bought it already build i don't know but a s2k motor should stay in a s2k it doesnt belong in a crx.
