Default Bike Clutches.

Hello,

Sorry if this is off topic...but i know somone here can help.

I am working in a R&D facility for a avionic company. I need to know how much a cluthc for a bike is for my project. Like somthing like a 250cc (like 40 hp). I mean the whole thing like the cage and the plates and the springs and eveything including the leaver and not inclutding the handle and the cable.

My knowlege on how bike cluthes work exaclty and i don't even think you can get like one hole kit for what i need. So for me to call my local parts store and spend 40 mins trying to explain why i need a clutch for a bike that i don't even own is time consuming and extremelty unproductive (from expereince anyway).

my plan BTW is to engage and disengage a bike clutch about 4 times a second which a 10 hp electric motor spining at about 900 rpm non stop to cause pulse. can bike clutches take that sort of abuse? is ther a place i can look for drag bike cltuhces?

thanks...

a regular clutch won't take that type of cycling well. You have to understand that they are wet clutches for the most part that don't lend themselves to such abuse. Look into barnett race clutch baskets. at least that's what I remember the name as. Basically search for turbo hayabusa (suzuki gsxr 1300) setups and they will involve rather bulletproof clutches, some mechanically automated.

does it neccessarily have to be a motorcycle clutch? you may want to contact Tilton. Their engineering team is great and they are willing to help.

your plan involves a high amount of cycling the clutch. i guess you would also need to know the length of each "test". a carbon/carbon set up is the only thing i know of that will take so much abuse. good luck!
