it changes the ratio by adding a gear box to your steering shaft. so instead of it taking 4ish turns from all the way right to all the way left. it would now take 2, or what ever ratio you bought. the one i have is a 2:1. but in adding this, it also makes steering a bit more difficult. that is why the p/s is needed.

So if I already had a 00-01 ITR rack and wanted to use this whatr would be involved in installing it? and it is only 2:1 with the ITR rack correct? with a different rack the ratio would change right?
What did you use it for and how does the car respond at speeds?

Yah, I know that. i mean what did you use it for specifically? Track? Street?
and is it a touchy at higher speeds?

it is not to drastic, it was going on my street car. it does indeed quicken the steering so driver just has to take that into consideration. i figure that even if you lend your car out... the drive to the freeway will get them aquainted with how the steering feels.
Hope this helps...i'm not sure how double the steering ratio of a honda would feel, but I have driven in cars that I think (I'm no expert) seem to have a lot quicker steering.
My miata seems to have a lot quicker steering ratio than my crx. with all factors held constant, pushing the steering wheel the same distance, my miata will seem to turn quite a bit more than my crx. I think maybe this is quicker steering. Assuming I am correct, driving a car with a quicker steering does take some time to get used to (maybe a day or so of driving), but it doesn't make the car more difficult to drive at all, and it's not at all unpredictable at higher speeds.
If you want quicker steering, but not as fast as 2:1, I believe quaife has a quick steering rack. IIRC, steering is around maybe 20% quicker. For some ppl, this is maybe not enough. You also cannot use power steering w/ the quaife rack.
There are actually a couple of threads that have info on quickners. may want to search under "quaife" as well, as the quaife rack threads also had some info on the quickners.
