Car runs on P28 but not P30
Well i got my c5 runnin about 2 weeks ago and the other day i wanted 2 switch computers due 2 mpg and i pluged the obd2a p30 in and my car just sputters and will only staying running w/ givin throttle the whole time but then runns perfect w/ the p28...... besides lask of vtec other than that its cel free w/ the p28.. this just kinda worries me... wondering what you guys think i should do
btw i drive a 98 GSR w/ a 200 c5block w/ a 96 b16 head.. and i am running a vafc2 w/ a p28

you running:
a 2000 b18c5 block
a 1996 b16 head
an obd1 ecu p28/p30
why are you running a vafc2?
The chipped ecu can do everything for you that the vafc2 is doing but better. Is the vafc2 even tuned, or is it running original not tuned. The p30 is it chipped? If it isn't chipped the fuel map is not meant for your car, it is meant for a sohc set-up. Ecu's on different cars aren't plug'n'play. The cables/plug might be the same but that doesn't mean it is going to safely run your car. Get another chip programed for your p28 and put it in. That will run leaner and help you with gas mileage.

the vafc is initialized which means it is just running in diagnostic mode..and ive had it on my car since my last motor setup and i just left it plugged into my other harness
well the fuel map in the p30 is set-up for a sohc engine which means the fuel tables are way wrong for your engine. Ecu's are not plug'n'play. The are meant for certain engines unless they are chipped/tuned for your application. I don't think the vafc is to blame if you had it on the harness previously. Just make sure the blue wire is connected or else you will get a cel.

what kind of car/year/trim is this set-up in?
did it have vtec originally?
if not. did you run the extra wiring for the harness?
why is your p28 ecu not giving you vtec?

98 2 dr gsr..
when i sold my C1 i had vtec and i am still using the same engine harness as i did before on the old motor and the ecu is chipped... ive heard of people "grounding" or "jumping" the vtec solenoid.... could that be it?

depends on the program on the chip/depends if the vafc2 is messing with the vtec x-over/and wiring on the car. check those and your problem should be solved.
obd1 gsr ecucheck your conversion cable and see where the vtec solenoid wires go. Look at the second picture and look at D6 and A4 and trace them. Find a pinout for a obd2 p72 and make sure they are going to the correct pin on your conversion harness.

your car should be running on the p30 the p30 ecu is out fo the vtec delsol's(dohc) and the jdm SiR(dohc) now it could be from a auto that could be the problem but your car should run on any obd1 ecu maybe not good but it will run as long as its not a auto ecu
omg you guys.
The Del sol came in 3 trims: S, Si, and VTEC.
S had a d15b pos, Si had a d16z6 or a d16y8 96+, and the VTEC had a b16a3 or a b16a2 96+.
In fact I have a b16a3 swapped in my 93 civic coupe right now.
What program are you running on the p28?
Does the engine give and CEL's when the p30 is plugged in?
