Quick!! Need input now, to buy or not -- 98 F3 for $3500
I am looking for a starter bike and only favors the F2/F3 CBR600 since it's comfortable and forgiven.
I found this bike on Ebay, which is only 5 miles from where I live:

I just went in to the dealer and took a look at it. In general, the bike looks good, but I am not a bike person and I won't know if there is anything needs to be changed. The reserve price is at $3,800 and I offer a deal of $3500 cash and they will end the auction early...with sales tax, it will cost me around $3,800 anyway.
Obviously, the tank is dented, will this have any problem? The rear tire seems to need to change, and I don't know about that chain.
What are your guy's opinion?
or
P.S. How much would I expect to pay for insurance monthly, full coverage and long-time disability?

It's really up to you, but it looks like it's been repainted which means its probably been down before. It's actually not a bad deal for a F3. I'd go for it if I were you
.
That windscreen is nasty though.

Never been in an accident but the tank doesnt match....hmmm that just seems odd to me. 3500 isnt a really great price or anything for an f3. I'd pass, impulse buying on a bike is never a good thing.
Well, I only have 2 months before relocation, this is a bike to be share with my friend. This is one of the better deals I can find on anything, newspaper, internet..etc.
What else should I look for on the bike? Anyway to run a history on it?

You can get an F3 with original graphics, undented tank, decent windshield and new tires on it for $3500, maybe less.
If it were me I'd pass. You'll be glad you did when you find that perfect bike. Impulse buying is bad and hindsight is always 20/20.

A guy I know just bought a 97 f3 in mint condition with alittle more miles on it for 3500 and got a helmet with it too.
I would say look around.

I can get a better price than that, but I won't say anything until I come out next week with the bike
Well, it happened.
I don't think this is much of an impulse buy...because I been looking around for months. And this one is priced a little over what I expect to pay - $3,000. But the good thing is, I no longer have to rent a Uhaul Van to whereever to pick up the bike as the dealership is only 5 min away from my house.
After I pointed out to the dealer of "repaint, unmatching gas tanks". He revealed that the previous owner did an Endo and dropped on the left side. And as in the description of "never been in an accident"...that's their standard paragraph for all their vehicles
I had a friend that rides a F4i to go look at the bike and it seems it's only cosmetic and the engine starts up fine and sounds good. Since this is will be my startup bike...I'll drop it for sure and give more dents to the gas tank..
The deciding factor is that the dealer also gave me 30 days of temporarily warranty. I question what if the frame are bent or whatever, he sais if that's the case, bring it back for a full refund as they are confident with their check-up.
So, I took it.....for $3,200, after next week's MSF course, I'll be ready to ride
