Default Expo 5 - All Attendees Please READ

A note from our safety steward, Lance:

Students,

Let me start by expressing the gratitude of all the Expo organizers
for helping to make this event a great success. This event is about
all of us having a good time in a safe and responsible manner. Which
leads me to the point of this email, car prep.

What I'm going to mention here is pretty much common knowledge to
anyone who has done a few HPDE's in the past but even if you have
please continue reading as you may learn something new. The event is
being held as a "self-tech" event. This means that all car prep is the
responsibility of the student. It's recommended that each student take
their car to a shop for a professional inspection but this is not
required. What is required is that each student fill out a tech
inspection sheet
(http://www.itrca.com/events/expo5/Te...ction_Form.pdf) prior to
arriving at the track on Saturday, there will be enough to do in the
morning without the added burden of teching your car.

When you arrive at the track remove all loose items from the car. This
includes but not limited to:
- spare tire
- jack
- tools
- all items in glove compartment
- all items in center console
- all items in door pocket
- all items trunk/hatch
- all floor mats and trunk mat
- any items under the seats that are not bolted down
- anything attached to the windows and/or sun visors
- ashtray and cigarette lighter
- car stereo face plate
- BASICALLY REMOVE EVERY LOOSE ITEM FROM WITHIN THE CAR

Other items to consider for car prep:
- no exposed wires inside the car
- battery secured and positive terminal covered
- lug nuts torqued to proper spec
- should have at least half life on all brake pads or have spares (MAM
has some high speed sections and will eat brake pads for lunch)
- put tape over your headlights. this will save from plastic being
spread all over the track in the event that a headlight shatters

Be aware that your instructor's life is in your hands so anything they
deem is not safe must be addressed. We will be as accommodating as
possible but if no instructor will go on track in your car there is a
reason for that and you will not be permitted on track until all
issues are addressed. All student/instructor assignments have been
posted at http://www.itrca.com/events/expo5/RunGroups.pdf and if you
would like to contact your instructor regarding a specific issue with
your car prep please reply to this email with your name and the name
of your instructor.

Please visit http://www.itrca.com/events/expo5/Expo5_Rules.php and
read over the entire event rules & regulations before arriving at the
track. Also take a few minutes to read through the PCA Driving Manual
for MAM http://www.itrca.com/events/ex...M.pdf.

Last but not least we have put together an event document that
contains just about all the information you'll need for our event. We
suggest you print out a copy and keep it with you for the duration of
the event. It can be found at
http://www.itrca.com/events/expo5/EventDetails.pdf.

There may be updates to the RunGroup PDF throughout the week so nothing is set in stone until Saturday morning.

Lets have as much fun as possible while retaining our excellent safety history.

Please direct any questions to lanceh@gmail.com as the
expo5.rules@kickyfast.com address is temporarily unavailable.

Thanks
Lance Honer
Expo 5 Safety Steward

that's fine. the exposed wiring i'm referring to is anything that could potentially disrupt the driver or instructor.

ALSO: be aware that the run groups will probably change a bit throughout the week so if you're gonna print a copy off it's best to wait until later in the week.

I wanted to thank Chris N for the good instructor prep work. I'm matched with a b00sted ITR driver, my dad is matched up to a guy that drives a 330i, and Clitz N himself ended up with Lori... hmm...

But really, thanks to you all, White Dragon, Budman, and Lanceydosa H, you give the appearance of a well-run event!

Why don't you bring along some spare coilovers and we'll swap 'em in.

Good to hear we can use our MA95 helmets. It's so much more comfy than my SA95 one.

It's been a pleasure.

Thanks to all of the drivers for stepping up to the plate and paying by 12/31. This has eliminated HUGE amounts of stress that primarily - Trey had to deal with the last couple of years.

We hope you all enjoy. Stop by the big motor home & say hi (the spot on the West end of the eatery in the paddock is reserved for our coach - Expo Operations!)

Did my best.

Still adjusting things.

Instructors are dropping like flies.
Very glad Chris Dubya is now coming b/c otherwise we'd be in a bind.
