First post here. :D Anyways, I have a 93 Accord and she has 228k miles and still runs pretty strong. But i'm afraid she will be near the end of her days soon. So I need some opinions as to what to do to the car. This was my first car and I wanna keep it as long as I can so motor swaps are in question. Still your stock F22a1 motor with 0 mods done to it. So i'm curious as to if I should get the motor rebuilt and put performance internals in it and then do your basic bolton and get her ready for a turbo, or should I go H22 and design that for a drag/auto-x car? I also need to change out the suspension and most of the front end will need work I know that much as the CV axle has snapped about 6 times. Once from me, the rest from my dad. But other than that I love this car. :D I also do not plan on putting any bodykits or wings on it or anything like that except maybe a carbon fiber hood/trunk and paint over it to match the car for the lighter weight. This will mainly be motor work. So what's your take? Thanks. ^_^

EDIT: Also, just a question. When i'm launching hard and I go from first to second the gear grinds like it doesnt want to go into gear even though the clutch is all the way in. Yet when it's normal to moderate launches it's fine. What causes that?

 

Go with an H22...you'll kill 2 birds with one stone, new motor (better platform) AND new CV axles...ive never been a fan of rebuilding engines, because they always seem to have problems of some sort down the road, and sometimes, they dont show their ugly face until its ALSO damaged a portion of the newly rebuilt engine, that and honda engines are so damn cheap...and the H22 is a better FF platform for your car, might as well ya know?

 

Personally, I love stealth projects. If the bodys' pretty straight (no rust) (and it shouldn't be if from Fresno) then consider this.

Turbocharge your recently rebuilt (or swapped in) F22a (keep it uncomplicated and stay with what you've got)
Rebuild suspension ( urathane bushings, KYB adjustable struts and new ball joints)
Suppliment Suspension: Anti-Sway Bars front & rear
Exhaust: Magnaflow 15687 Stainless Cat back exhaust (lets turbo breath)
Honda / Acura oem alloy wheels 15"
215/55x15 Tires

Do the swap and keep it n/a imo if you can afford it. I wouldn't wanna boost an engine with 230k on it even with a rebuild but I'm sure it has been done.

 

The body is pretty good aside from the rear end because a drunk driver recently hit me, but other than that it's good. And I was also just reading up on the F22b. So how im curious as to if I should use the H22 or F22b. And yeah, this car is going to be a sleeper.

It all really has to do with the amount of money you have to spend. f22b's are pretty cheap where as your looking at like 3k for an h22 swap.

 

i need help too. i have a accord 90 and i want to swap the engine but im not sure what type of engine to put. i don't race but i want something decent under the hood. i also need info as far as where to go to get this done. any info is apriciated

 

How cheap can one get F22bs? and how much HP have been extracted from the two engines on average with say, 4-5k invested in them.

 

If your ready to invest $4,000-$5,000 into an engine, may i make a suggestion and not be taken wrong...? Buy another car...

Just my .02 but why are you spending money on two project cars ? I would just do the F22B swap on the accord and keep it as a driver while your working on your other car. If my house wasnt like a used car lot I would be in trouble right now.

 

This is off topic by why are you boosting the KA? That thing is a slouch in my opinion, and the SR20's out there are a dime a dozen now days...just as cheap as most Bseries motors...

 

because KA's are grenade proof, and replacement parts are cheaper and easier to get

if your goning to stay NA, the F22b DOHC is not really worth it

 

the f22bs are much cheaper than the h22s. If you want to boost i would suggest getting one of these and doing a little bit of internal work before boosting. That would be what i would do. The h22 is also a good option if you are looking not to boost but to have a good reliable car with more power. you have many options so it is really up to you.

 

Well, two project cars because the Honda I want to be my daily driver as well as drag car and the 240 as a weekend and drift car.

And yes the KAs are grenade proof. While a bit heavier than the overrated SR20, they can put out the same ammount if not more HP and WAY more tq than the SR.

Question: What would be a good suspension setup for the Honda? It's gonna need to take hills and bumps so I don't want something that will bounce me for 10 mins after I pass a pothole.
