Lessons learned at Pocono yesterday
1. Don't ride hard on your last session. Work on your lines or look for new reference points for next time out. Your more tired then you think and your brain in most likely fried from processing way too much information all day long. Mistakes happen.
2. When traveling trough grass filled with divots and dirt bumps get off your seat, let your legs absorb the bumps and don't touch that front brake.
3. Squeeeeeze those brakes. Grabbing causes big problems.
4. Vanson Leathers and Held gloves are worth their weight in gold. They ******* kick ***.
5. Moko frame sliders are worth every penny of there extremely high price tag.
Overall it was a ******* great day and i can't wait to go back.
Pictures of the damage and fun should be up later tonight.

It doesn't bother me because it was my brother who went down. Like a retard he locked up his front wheel at about 90 and it washed out from under him. Him and the bike slid forever but luckily he was at the end of the nascar straight and just kept going up onto the banking. He doesn't really care how the bike looks anymore so it's not that big of a deal. He was able to ride it back to the pits and all he really needs to replace is the shaved down shift lever.
I just ran out of room due to a shitty line and took mine through some grass. Lucky I kept it up and no damage

I have one shitty picture of me on track. It was from my second(3rd maybe) session ever so cut me a break on my shitty form:

My brother paid for his pictures from the track photographer because he wanted a 8X10 of this:
Shitty foot positioning but mad stunna sparks from his Ti toe sliders y0!
The track photographer had about 5 good ones of me from the later sessions with my knee down and one where I was looking directly at the camera but I can't justify spending the money on pictures until my form is better.
I'm gonna go take some pictures of the damage to my brother's 636 in a little while.

you may need to give more steering input. the first pic of you looks like you're not steering as effectively as possible. that may be a good starting point. leverage necessitates better form.

The only thing I put on the bike before the track day was the Scotts Stabilizer. It saved my *** just about every lap.
When you come down the straight you get real hard on the brakes for a left hander then it's wide open in 3rd gear over a slight rise while your still leaning a little bit to the left. The first time I hit it the front got real light and gave some mean head shake even with the stabilizer because I was a little tight on the bars. I'm sure I would have been toast without it.
After that I was getting on the throttle a little earlier and the bike was a bit more upright as I crested the rise so it would either slightly wheelie I think or just get real light in the front with very little shake.
That first time alone it more then paid for itself.
The three sweetest bikes ever:

Some boogers:

Good thing my brother picked up the blue left fairing off ebay last week to use as track plastics.
Crash damage:

I didn't get to see him go down because I was just getting back to the pits after running off but everyone said he slid for a long *** time. He was able to ride the bike back but as you can see everthing on that side is pretty shaved down. I think he's pretty lucky for going down at that speed with this little damage to his bike and a two very small spots to patch on the lower back of his leathers.

I couldn't agree more. That picture was early in the day while I was still getting used to being on track. I was really uncomfortable for the first two sessions so my riding position wasn't anywhere near where it usually is on the street. I was straight arming the bike and fighting it all the way around the track. After the third session I got the line down a bit better and I could relax and concentrate on my riding instead of all the other bullshit that was running through my head.
By the end of the day I was bringing my chest down closer to the tank and lowering my elbows so my forearms were much more parallel to the ground. My turn in became much quicker and it was much easier with the added leverage.

Here is a tiny *** picture from a little later in the day when I was a bit more comfortable. I think I still need to get my elbows lower and I also want to get my inside sholder inside a bit more and my *** off the seat some more.

very cool that you got to go to the track with your bro. he looks stoned in that one nice pic of him
I just ordered Moko's for the FJR. they are the only ones that dont require cutting the fairing for my bike. $175 but i hear they are worth it.

I'm guessing he went down at about 80-90 with the bike then sliding a long *** way down the banking and as you can see the sliders didn't budge an inch.
He originally had vortex sliders on the bike but they snapped in half after a 2mph tip over.
The Moko's are ******* beefy and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Wish I would have looked into them for my bike before I got my Graves sliders.

******* stoners!
The only issues I have with going to the track with him is that right now he's faster then me but I only blame that on him being a little bit of a ******* psycho. I tend to be a bit more methodical and analyze my riding. He just wants to hop on the bike and go ***** to the wall all the time. I feel like I'm riding in my comfort zone while he is constantly trying to push it.
Maybe after he crashes enough he'll learn

Sorry I missed this the first time.
Yes it was held at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa.
Reduc ran the event:
http://www.reduc.com
It was held on the Pocono east course and I took there mandatory free class for first time track riders. I didn't learn much from the class except what to do in case you run off into the grass, good thing I was listening because that's exactly where I ended up
My brother is going back this thursday if the chance of rain is less then 50% to ride the FUSA course with TPM( http://www.teampromotion.com ). Totally different track layout and it actually has some fast right handers unlike the east.

Now you ******* got me trippin about my sliders! Hey reborn!, how 'bout them Sato sliders? I forget what mine are but they seem much more high quality than some other bs I've seen. Plus my bolts are steel. I'm thinking they might still not be all that.

I've heard good things about the sato sliders. I just like the idea of the bracket that goes behind the Moko's so the force of the hit is distributed over a wider area and it's just not one bolt trying to hold the bike up. I think that most sliders can withstand the slide it's just a matter of if they hold up to the initial impact.
