92TypeR's Expo5 build -- COMPLETED! --
Last year I started noticing very bad fluctuations in oil pressure on track (bad enough that I would drop out of VTEC even in a mild corner). After strengthening my oiling system I narrowed the source down to my main bearings. I guess the years of hard track driving finally took their toll on the motor. My suspicions where proven correct. The main bearings had some bad hot spots and one had a small groove along the whole upper bearing cap. I am lucky they did not bind, otherwise I might have thrown a rod...
I pieced together a nice setup that should be very reliable and strong on the track.
Specs are:
B18C block 1979cc
85mm bore X 87.2mm stroke
Benson's Sleeves
Benson's Machined and Polished Crankshaft
Benson's Balanced and Blueprinted Rotating Assembly
CP Pistons 12.0:1 Compression
Eagle Rods
ARP Rod Bolts
ACL Bearings
Cometic MLS Headgasket
RC 310cc injectors
Crome EMS
PR3 ITR head
Supertech stainless valves
new OEM valve guides
new OEM valve seats
3-angle valve grind
I was going to be adding some 46mm Hayabusa individual throttlebodies, but after a few hours of tuning Saturday, the fuel rail mountings did not hold up and the injectors would repeatedly pop out of place. Fuel smells great by the way when its all over your engine bay
.
The moment finally came this last weekend and the block arrived, and was immediately put in for tuning and break-in.
Mileage count as of this morning, 614. Compression is a very healthy 265psi on each cylinder.
The car was tuned by David Lee, who I spent 23 hours with on Saturday completely tuning every partial throttle map and high throttle map using Crome tuning software. This guy is good!
The car pulls very very hard. For still having ITR cams, I am very impressed. First gear is absolutely useless, there is no traction at anything more than 50% throttle. Second gear just barely holds on, and the rest of the gears just rip! I will host some videos soon!
I am very pleased with the outcome of this project. Although I wasn't able to use the ITB's I was hoping to, that just gives me something to look forward to working with when I return from the Expo. I also have a complete oil cooler setup I am going to be installing, but since I am already cutting it close on the time schedule, I do not have time to install it and troubleshoot any leaks.
Now some eye candy

I am very much looking forward to meeting many of you! I will see you memorial day weekend for Expo5!

I can't wait to see how a well-built ITR holds up against the b00sted bastards out there. There's always room for the "I didn't have my ITB's on" excuse.

I'm only running 370's with plenty of room to spare.
I'm even running a stock fuel pump

No dyno yet, first dyno will be at the expblow. Then I will go to the dyno here once I get my ITB's figured out.
Thanks everyone, lots of sweat (and maybe a little blood) went into this project to get it done in time
There are many people to thank. Earl Laskey (Earl on H-T) and David Lee (leed on H-T) made large contributions.

Yes, stock IM and stock TB. It still feels strong so I'm not complaining
