..... and look what I found!
http://www.dropshippedtools.com/store.asp
They DO sell to the public, take Paypal, and are cheap as shizznit!!
A lady e-mailed me back and said they are happy to sell to regular consumers, there stuff is just no named generic Chinese stuff (probably where the name brand stuff is made ...
...)
But I'll take cheap Chinese made stuff for stands and stuff if it will save me $50!!
I have to go to Pep boys and see how much a stand is, because the one I want would be $28, plus $35 shipping (UPS ground). It may not be as much of a deal for something huge, but for breaker bars or stuff like that (that cost $2-$5), it would be!

I planned on renting the hoist Dom, but I wanted to get a stand so that it wouldn't have to sit on a pallet in my garage at home for a few weeks while I work on it since it won't be going into my car immediately ....
I'll be changing out the cams to newer Si cams (better than the 1st Gen. cams), cam gears, springs/retainers, timing belt, pulley, etc. ...... After all that is done, I'll drop it in.
Oh ...... since my firm is the principal architect for BJ's, and I have drawn up about 20 of them .... I don't shop at Sam's!!!!

that place basically looks like harbor freight, but cheaper. Harbor Freight must just rebrand thier stuff.
In fact, a lot of the parts look EXACTLY the same as harbor freight. If they are the same, then you don't wanna expect a high quality product, but most of the time, it'll do the job.
But there isn't much you can screw up on an engine stand. Other than paint chipping, not foldable, wheels get stuck easily type of stuff. If it holds the engine, and doesn't break, it will work.
the stand I have is far from deluxe, but it works fine.
