Need help on Accord radiator cap
I need a new radiator cap and the one from Auto Zone says 16 lbs. Is this the correct pressure? I know the stock cap says 1.1 which I think is in kilograms. Thanks for any help.
1.1 bar (marked on the OEM cap) is equal to 15.95 psi.
13 psi would be 0.9 bar, does Honda make them that low? What year/model? If your car is SUPPOSED to have a 0.9 bar cap, then maybe your 1.1 bar cap isn't really original?

I thought it was 1.1 as well. I put on a 16 pound cap (1.1) about a month ago and now my radiator is leaking at the top seams. It could have been the cap or that the radiator had 100k miles. Anyways, I put in a new radiator and the man at the radiator shop said the '96 Accord calls for a 13 pound cap (0.9). Thanks for the help anyways.
pressure time it first, start at 10lbs and see if it would hold for 10 minute.
putting a higher pressure cap on and you'll have leaks left abd right.
for some old car, it might not hold the 1.1bar/oem spec.

like i stated before wrong pressure rad caps will crack plastic top tanks or make them leak at weak seam,,especially if car has been overheated before thus weakening cooling system components

But all 3 HondAcuras I've owned came with 1.1 bar caps. RAK didn't say what year/model he has, so ???
Still, I'll stand by the pressure units conversions.
1.1 bar = 16 psi
0.9 bar = 13 psi

I have a 1996 Honda Accord. Every Honda I have seen has a 1.1 cap but it seemed that after I bought the aftermarket 16 lb. cap, the radiator started leaking at the seams a month later.

1 bar = 14.5 psi
1.1 bar - 15.95psi</TD></TR></TABLE>
it's not just honda, there's tons of auto maker using plastic endtank.
