I have a 20002 S2000 thats bone stock minus the K&N and removed aircover (uhhh woot?). I'm currently using 93 Octain at whatever alt. Iowa is and whenever I get close to 7500rpm I start to ping like nobodies buisness. I regularly use Sea Foam at oil changes and compression is still 240 across the board (Cold engine, dry test). Can anybody suggest what might be causing this?

Well I dont think you should use Sea Foam THAT much, and I beleive you are supposed to do a compression test on a warmed up motor - but those dont really explain your pinging. Put your air cover back on, your hurting yourself more than helping yourself there. But once again, this doesnt explain your pinging. Can you post a sound cliip of it?

Seriously though, I cant think of anything. Maybe you need a valve job?

 

Check your oil. I'm sure it's that.

Ehhh buddy, first of all, that makes no sense, second, I check it everytime I get gas.

 

maybe heatsoak from no air box cover causing excessive heat into engine through filter??? But that doesn't explain why just at 7500rpm?
