Type R insurance?
i checked with an insurance agent that works in my store (when i was looking for a R)
98 R was half as much as a 00-01 R in insurance price and their points rating for comp/collision (nationwide ins.)

To me it sounds ridiculous. I paid about $90 a month when I had my '00 Hype R with full coverage.
Where are you located?

lets take into account also this...who is on their parents insurance? multi-vehicle discount will drastically take down the price. if i were 18 then i'd be getting raped i think, i'm 24 and i still feel a little **** pain
i pay about $300 for my 01R
full coverage + 500/300 deductable + 45/day rental coverage + couple speeding tickets = $4400/yr
if i stay clean for another year, it should go down to around $2800/yr
wish me luck

BTW in gay state of MA where u can't get break on insurance b/c state controls insurance premiums, in order to get multicar discount u must have at least two people with 6+ years of driving experiences.
so in state of MA, it's basically same whether u r on or off ur parent's policy

It seems high to me, but I'm 50 years old. Even with a high risk occupation, I pay $1500/year for full coverage on three vehicles.
If you can get in with State Farm, I think you'll find that their rates are going to be lower than you'd think, and they certainly have better coverage and respond to claims better than most companies.
It's possible that the high-risk ITR, combined with your age, driving history and neighbourhood are all going to make it hard for you to get a good insurance buy on an ITR.

just got my bill, it was a tad over $700 for 6 months, almost 21 y/o, 2001 ITR in florida...clean record, only one ticket but didn't get any points so it doesn't matter.
Have you guys tried AAA? I got a quote from my agent ~$1600 for a one year of full coverage using the lowest limits, $500 deductible. I'm 20 w/ a clean record. Geico and all the other insurance companies always give me 1600 for only 6 months. After a 1 point accident due to the rain AAA quoted me 2500 a year.
