Hey, I saw that car last year up at the Niagara meet.
Nice.
I've just got one question.
I also noticed you hauled it all the way there on a trailer,
is it daily driven?
That would make it real nice

There is no way in hell thats a sleeper, when you have a bajillion stickers on your car, especially dohc vtec, how do you claim thats a sleeper.
Its nice though, id remove all the stickers and switch to an oem wheel.

u finally got the money for the b series huh? I remember on rpr when u would be "dreaming" of it. Hahaha, looks like it's reality now. post some times, i'm curious as to how fast this thing goes.

Thanks guys,
even those hating on my "decals" (I prefer this term to "stickers" as that's what the rice boys do who put VTEC decals on DSM's and Nissans; Type R emblems on mom's caravan, and underbody neon kits, purple windshield squirters and big triple decker wings on Cavaliers and Tempos). hehe.
Real race cars have decals, and this car really isn't too far off from being a true racer (I'd love to get it on Willow Springs or Infineon raceway).
Actually, I REALLY debated the whole decal thing.
On one hand, I do like the clean, simple lines of the 1G crx as it is, and this car would certainly could be a sleeper in that respect. On the other, I really wanted this car to stand out (somewhat) as it is very special (at least to me) for what it is. Anyone can modify a 2G crx, but you just don't see this extensive level of clean mods to a 1G. For that, I wanted people to know this is a special CRX, and a FIRST GEN! (Hence my license plate "ULT1GCRX".)
Every decal on my car represents parts actually on the car.
OK, off the decals...
Genuine Mugen valve cover = $870
in an ugly grey/bronze color only

Egay knock off that looks the same (in a color that I wanted--RED) = $150
That's a no-brainer, bub.
As for the mesh inserts, those are there for a reason. I cut a section out of the header panel to allow better airflow into the A/C condensor and radiator. I have dual fans on there which helps, but the car NEEDS that extra air to cool things down in that tiny engine bay.
Also, the rear bumper on the 1G crx (esp. the '84-'85's) creates a fair amount of drag, so the mesh acts as a way to counter this (and looks good in the process, IMHO).
I haven't had the car at the track yet. With a 2 year old son and another baby girl on the way and a crazy work schedule, I just haven't had time.
I would suspect given the insane power to weight ratio of this car (300ish hp in a sub 2000lb. car) it should be good for a mid-high 11 sec. pass (This is assuming it would have slicks and a traction bar of some type to address the lack of traction the car has----hops like a $2 ho on a trampoline matress).
No, the car is definitely not daily driven. It's definitely stiff, and you can't hide the little squeaks, etc. from the hatch. Although, the Niagara trips are going to be WAY more comfy w/ cold A/C for that 11 hour drive!
My goal when I dreamed up this car 6 years ago was to have a reliable, fuel efficient CRX that would perform as well as (or better than) a stock C5 corvette in acceleration, braking, and handling all in that legendary fun-to-drive 1G crx "go-kart like" package.
With the help of many talented people......goal achieved.

Bryman, i remember you from redpepperracing, you're a celbrity there
. The 1G looks great. 300whp + 1G = scary.
