Do you understand how buying a car works?
You need to give the seller the full amount.
If you need to have the car financed, you need to get approved for a loan.

First, find out the exact cost of the car for you to purchase, including any applicable fees. Then goto eloan.com or lendingtree.com and apply for a loan for that EXACT amount. It is important to specify that this is for a private sale. If approved directly from eloan or lending tree, they will send you a check for that exact amount, fill in the buyers name, and make the purchase. By him cashing the check, you are entered into the loan contract. You will *NOT* be issued a new title-- the lien holder will have an electronic title, and one will be issued to you upon payoff of the loan.
They really make the loan process as simple as possible. Cliffs: If approved you are given a check, you fill in the sellers name, send him the check, you get the car, with some minor paperwork here and there.
Edit: BTW, dealers will rape you on an ITR. A private seller with all service documentation, and car fax title IMHO is the way to go. Check out the car as much as possible-- go all out if the car is local. If it is too far away to take a look at in person, you may think about contacting a 3rd party to assess the vehicles aesthetic and operational condition (there are agencies that do this for a mild fee).
Always be a cautious buyer, and best of luck on your search for an R.

Some people are trying to pass off PY and Black GSR's as Integras... make sure you get one of the real white ones.
Search HT Vehicles for Sale for more ITRs. They pop up about once a week.
Also, if you find one that already has the mods you want you'll get it at a discount. Mods on a caR never seem to increase the value, at least not much.

Yep.. a little patience and you can find one. I know of a 2000 ITR in good shape that sold for 16K recently. Just keep your eyes open.
Edit, hey, where the hell are you, what state at least? That might help.

Well it IS a honda.. but I don't know anyone offhand that has needed a rebuild due to "normal" wear and tear. I had a prelude that went 200,000 miles until the tranny decided to be more expensive to fix than get a new car. Your mileage may vary, but I'd say that's reasonable.
After 100K, bits of tranny and motor work should be expected, nothing catastrphic.
