Default s2000 Sway Bars

Hi All,

This is my first post. I am about to do a few bolt on mods: headers, intake, catback, for my s2000. In addition It was suggested that I think about sway bars. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to brand and why they like them. Thanks.

why do you wnat sway bars should be your question.... why get or look into something cuase someone said to.... you should do what you want... and do the things to achieve your goals... not just slap on random parts cause someone mentioned you should or should not do...

Hey There,

Thanks for the response. Yeah you are right...I probably misworded the question. I am attempting to reduce body roll as well as oversteering. I have been told in my investigations that different manufacturers of sway bars produce products with different results. So what I am curious about is what is the more popular manufacturer of sway bars and why?

well if you want to reduce body roll. a sway bar will help. to reduce oversteer, add only a front swaybar (obviously thicker than stock) and leave the rear stock. you should like it better

you can always just get an x brace.. and see how much that helps you first.. before you look into swaybars...... also some coilovers to lower the car a little to reduce body roll...(this will also make the car look better).....

sway bars should come in later... they change the handling drastically, and i honestly don't think they are nessecary at your stage of modding....

Why the need to reduce body roll and oversteer? Neither of them on their own are necessarily detrimental to handling. If you reduce body roll, then the suspension doesn't compress. If the suspension doesn't compress you don't gain any camber. If you don't gain any camber you need to dial in more static camber. To dial in more static camber you need a camber kit. Dial in even more static camber and your contact patch doesn't suit braking.

Granted that's an extreme example, but it just goes to show that anything you do will have an effect somewhere else.

I don't mean to sound preachy, but just be sure you've experienced enough of your stock car's potential before you go and mod everything. You really want to know what you're doing and why you're doing it before just jumping into it. I get the impression you want to get those parts because those are considered "the basic mods".

Take the car to the track or an autocross or hell, even the dragstrip if that's your thing. Figure out what you don't like about your car first then try to fix it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Good info. I will probably avoid the X brace though since it is is illegal in competition. B18c5- You do sound a little preachy....hehe....but thats ok I can handle it. Points taken. I actually have had it out to the local track several times. Just timed runs, and some slalom. Thats why I was curious about sways. These mods I am doing now will just boost the whp. At that point I will look harder into what I need as far as suspension. (If anything) Thanks again.

not all. some of the fastest guys i know and who race in honda challenge run rear sways. i myself run a rear. it has alot to do with driving style. for newer ppl, i suggest leave it on and just upgrade front for more neutral handling
