Owned by "The Pin"
Well the bitch pin once again earns its name, Ive spent the better part of 3 hours trying to knock that sucker out, but no luck. All Ive got now is a mauled bitch pin bottom and a couple broken taps and a screw driver, which lost its head in the bitch pin. If anyone has any Ideas other than PB blaster and taps and hammers let me know.
damn it, I got owned

Do you have a set of punches? Thats the only way I have had luck getting them out.
You could try adding heat and then punching it out but I'm a little scared of using a torch under my car.

FYI: b-series clutch cover (pressure plate) bolts are the right size to punch it out.
Maybe an air chisel?
I wouldn't bother heating it. heat won't help on a split pin.
Using the proper sized, non-tapering punch will help allot.

i dont understand why any of you need to deal with the bitch pin while under the car.
whenever ive done an engine or tranny swap, i just pull the shift linkage out with it and then deal with it while its out in the open and completely accessible.

This is all you will ever need to remove a bitch pin, Regular hammers dont have enough weight to them to make any real impact,

This is how i take care of by bitch pin.. I use a 12 mm bolt , which is a good fit for the pin, then i take a hammer and hammer it out and about .if you are looking for a 12 mm bolt, its right there on the shiftlinkage , just unscrew the shifter connecting to the linkage and use that

I went through the same ordeal once (but I stopped before smashing it up).
Here's how I finally got it out with a hammer and punch.
1.) try it with the car warm (dont know if this really helped, but it was warm the only time I got it out)
2.) put the car up high enough that you can get a good swing... mine was all the way up on the highest part of jack stands.

Get the punch and use a regular hammer. If you want to get it from the top of the engine instead of the bottem, use a lot of extensions. Becareful not to lose it.

Haha, I know, when I put mine back on, I thought the same thing.

If you'll get a roll pin punch, you'll knock it out without much trouble. An 8mm is what is called for (and does work great) but other sizes will work, 1/4", 5/16" etc. I'm always a little hesitant to use a bolt that I have to use again. I hate having to hunt down another bolt when it rolls off into parts unknown in the garage let alone because I used it as a punch and screwed up the threads.
The right size punch will get it out no problems. How do I know? I live in Iowa (rust belt) and have never taken more than 3 swings to drop it on the ground.
screw drivers are taperd. The more you hit it, the tighter it will get.

great idea.. but you need the car fairly high in the air to do this.
I could swear that you can get the bitch pin from the top! someone tell me i'm not crazy.

SERIOUSLY. people make things so hard on themselves, sheesh.

funny cause im having trouble with mine trying to fall out. I usually pull the shift linkage off before I pull a motor because its one less thing I have to watch when im pulling it out. I've personally never had trouble getting one out but i've also always had the right sized punch.
