Default f22B1 ----> H22A

this is my first post in this forum

car i drive, is a 1996 Accord EX, manual tranny (i love it, but also wish i had more HONDA power)

is it worth it for me to go around hunting down a H22A engine block, and trying to do a swap - from my current setup its a 45HP gain, although thats not tellign the whole story

I have no idea, and am a newbie to engine mods/swaps, so I wouldnt be doing it (unless I want to kill my beauty), but would like to know if it will be worth my time to get it done.

also, is a JDM H22A that much better

The H22A is the difference between night and day. The 45-55 HP gain is not really the advantage. The driveability is considerably much better. Shorter gear ratios and a 7600RPM redline make the car so much fun to drive. I've had my JDM H22 with LSD tranny in my car for over a year now and it still gets my adrenaline pumping when I drive it. Trust me, the swap is well worth the money, and if you do it yourself, you will learn more about your car than any peice of online resource can ever offer you...

Oh and yes, the JDM engine is better as it will have lower mileage and will be in better condition and cheaper than a USDM engine...

That is a blanket statement that is not always true

Got the money?...swap it!

http://www.hmotorsonline.com

I prefer USDM when it comes to motors. Body parts...go JDM.

Recommend replacing when swapping; water pump, spark plugs, all belts, clutch, ...anything that is easier/cheaper to change otu while the motor is out of the car.

the jdm has got my vote. not only because of mileage and condition but the jdm comes 200hp vs the usdm 190hp.

Wrong again. Y'all clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

An engine is just like any other used part, if you look you can get a good deal but you always run the risk of getting a crappy one. Being JDM does not guarantee the condition or milage. Both US and JDM have the potential to be in perfect condition with low miles or the opposite.

thanks a lot for the info guys

I am starting to wonder what it would be like, do I have the money??? sure, no, it would be a little bit of a squeeze. We'll see

i went to to, http://www.import-engine-trans.com

they wrote back saying,

We have the engine(h22a ) in stock. Total price for the engine with shipping charges is $1395.00.

Warranty: Six month unlimited mileage on Engines and three month unlimited on Transmissions. Performance engines and performance transmissions come with one month warranty.
We import low mileage (35k-45k miles range) used Japanese Engines and Transmissions directly from Japan.
All engines checked before shipping to the US.
Most of our Engines come complete with Distributor, Alternator, Starter, Carburator/Injection and Flywheel at no additional cost.
Looking forward to serving your Japanese Engines and/or Transmission needs

Does anyone know of this outfit, this is a Eact Coast shop, i know most everyone who does this lives out west, but please advise

Thanks for the help

just an FYI, i dont think that price includes tranny, ecu, or harness. you can use your F22 tranny but your better off with the H tranny, also doesnt sound like it comes with half shafts, axles, etc...

Honestly expect to pay 2 grand at the very least for a complete swap. http://www.hmotorsonline.com is my #1 recomendation. MANY MANY MANY people buy their engines off there and have ZERO complaints. they have great prices and they sell the COMPLETE swap

I'm not trying to be a ***** or anything but please search. This topic has been covered countless times. You'll find more info by searching than what your going to get if people answer your question.

Also, welcome to H-T.
