i could be wrong but a b20 and b18b crank are the same thing so you could use ls rods(oem or after market). But there could be an issue with deck height. but dont take my word on that. Somebody want to chime in on this?

Bingo.

Your pistons will be through your head.

Tech43 (as previously mentioned) uses custom pistons with a raised wrist pin location (I would assume) to allow the LS/CRV crank/rods to be fitted into a B16 block.

If I had the patience/money, I'd be all for a 1.9 liter motor stuffed into a 1.6 liter-stamped block.

...Instead I'm taking the easy route and going LSVTEC.

ok..so i got the crank. this will make you maybe a lil jealous but i payed 15 bucks for it. and yes..its straight. BUT i belive its from a 2liter prelude. although he siad its what eagle uses for their b series stroker kits. what mods need to be done to crank to make it work for the b series? i plan on balancing and knife edging it becuase i got it so dirt cheap.

and the part about the 1.9L with a b16a stamp on the block....that is EXACTLY what im trying to accomplish here.

a buddy of mine has told me that endyne makes pistons specifically for this application with a relocated wristpin location.

side note: what 02 sensor am i supposed to buy with an obd0 b16a? theres only one correct? precat if im not mistaken.

i contacted crower and they told me that with their kit i would have a 12:1 CR. sounds great but i dont think california **** fuel would atomize very well with comp like that.

so..if this is the 'lude crank..what do i need to do to make it work? and for an all motor app...h beam rods or a-frame? anyone sell balanced sets?

im also going to be worried about cam selection with the whole valve to piston clearance issue but ill worry about that later on. thanks for your help.

I think that the prelude b20 crank is different. It can work with some work. I think for one the timing belt gear does not aling properly. Do a search for b20a cranks. I know i have read about it before. Good luck!

the crank is in the mail. ill wait until it gets here to see if there are any identifiable marks on it.

edit: found that b20acranks are either 94mm or 95mm via the search. i emailed the tech43 guy. we'll see if he emails me back

the thrust bearing location is diff. the block will have to go to a machine shop to fix that, and i think you have to use custom length rods and pistons.

anyone have absolute specifics on what needs to be done to the block? or where i can find them?

i already found a guy thats going to balance and knife edge it for me. not trying to rev to 10,500, i just dont want longevity issues, which is why im worried about valve to piston clearance as well.

if the block is goign to be at the machine shop what is the biggest bore i can go without sleeving?

nice numbers up there at 212/156.. 81mm bore and 89mm stroke, isnt that a b16 block and an b18a/b crank?

email replied:

As far as using a 95mm crank in a b16a block, bad idea. The deck height is not tall enough to be able to fit in a decent lengthed rod. In a b16a block, fitting the ls crank/rod is about as good as it gets with a full ring pack.

Also, those b20 prelude cranks are not very strong, and problems can occour down the line with the snout. If you want to use a 95mm crank, I would suggest using an aftermark unit ie: eagle, scat, or having a crank shop increase the stroke on an ls 89mm crank. Using a b18 block is gonna be your best bet so you can fit a decent rod in it to make it live. I do offer piston/rod kits for 95mm cranks in b18 blocks.

You also might want to think about using a 92mm crank. Its right in between the ls and 95mm stroke. Best of both worlds maybe. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks, steve
