Default Putting in a mechanical oil pressure gauge

I need to test the oil pressure to the head. Some say the oil pressure gauge replaces the spot for the oil pressure switch next to the VTEC solenoid. Others say the small fitting to the left of the solenoid can be used. Anyone break it down for me? including what type and size adapter i need? thanks

What engine? I have a H22, the factory oil pressure switch is under the oil filter.

it's an H22-99 prelude SH. I cant use the normal oil pressure switch area because i need to check the pressure to the head not the block.

I tried the port next to the vtec solenoid towards the intake manifold. I have an auto meter gauge and it comes with the 1/8 fitting, but as soon as i began to screw it in it becomes hard. I didnt try to use a ratchet because i didnt want to mess up the threads in the motor. Is it normal for the fitting to not screw very easily?

I got the mechanical oil pressure gauge in and setup: no leaks or kinks in the line. The instructions dont mention bleeding the line so i didnt, so there is obviously air in the line but pressure is pressure, so the gauge should still read, right? I dont see how you would bleed it anyway because the line is in your car so. Also, the small port next to the VTEC solenoid should work right? not the oil pressure switch, the port on the opposite side of the solenoid

thanks

if you screwed it into the side of the head the fitting is a 1/8" bspt not npt fitting.

The oil pressure sending unit port is also a 1/8" bspt
