Default Chipping a stock D16A6 ECU - is it really worthwhile?

I have a mostly stock D16A6, and I'll eventually have some emissions-legal bolt ons such as IHE. I have some access to chipping hardware and software, and I was wondering if there are any real gains to be had from doing it, and if there are any bad side-effects. Keep in mind, this is a STS2 autocross car, so I cannot add a different cam or cam-gear.

Thanks.

Well, I would know.

Here's my question:

Are any real gains to be had from chipping the ECU on a stock D16A6 with 49-state-legal IHE, and are any bad side-effects?
