HOw can i get rid of the whistling??????
i was wondering if it is possible to get rid of the whistling noise from my intake. i have a 97 lx. after 1 1/2 years with tat whistling noise, i am really gettting sick of hearing it. so does anyone know a way to make the whistling stop besides puttin the stock airbox back in.
yeah I can hardly hear my CAI, everyones car I've driven in with a short stack has been pretty loud so I think you only got the 2 options
to get rid of the whistling, just rub your filter with crackers. it always works for me.
naw but really, check if there are any intake leaks and if there isn't then you should try a different filter. try the foam ones.

don't be a *****, just put a cold air intake on there. Just messing with ya, but i still recomend putting a cold air intake on there, you'll love the power, especially on cold night, oh how i love cold nights. I live in central florida, every day during the summer about 3pm till about 6pm it just rains and rains. the county i live in proabbly has the worst drainage meaning the water just rises and rises, never had a problem with hydro lock, just have to use your head, whenever going over a puddle, just coast over it and keep your foot off the gas, you'll be fine. If you have to drive through a puddle deep enough to suck up water when your foot is off the gas, then the water levels are really to high to be driving since you won't be able to see the road already.

you might have to just live with it.....you kinda get used to it after a while.....you say you had it for a minute so it shouldnt bother you man.....
my cai whistles like a **** at idle, espesially after I clean it. I'm bout ready to take it off in favor of a hacked up stock intake minus the resinator, gotta clean or replace my cai filter way too often.
the whisting is from the air passing thru the fibre..whether its cloth or foam..when the whistling will continue till the air preasure inside the intake equals the air preasure outside...if u hate this whistling ull hate the sound from a supercharger or turbo..the whistling is the music of power
Learn to love the whistle!
i think the whistling of my intake is very different from a turbo sound. i love the sound of the bov on a turbo. i think some of you are thinking bout the whistling when its at idle. im talkin bout the whistling when i accelerate. its very loud. people with accords w/ intakes ride and my car and always ask me wats the whistling.
I have a AEM CAI and the damn thing dont sound like a whistle . Sounds like a low hum . Which I think sounds cool as hell , Just sucks having a heart attack every friggen time it rains . Sacrifices I tell ya LOL
I have had a short ram, cai and my current stock box and it has whistled in every set up. I dont think it has anything to do with the intake or the filter. It might be something else. Some guy told me once it is caused by the butterfly valve but, does anyone know if it is true?
my friend has a b18b with a skunk2 manifold and an aem cai. when he only had the cai on there, no whistling was present, but after the manifold was installed, a distinct whistle would sound off at about 60-70% throttle. we have narrowed it down to 2 possible reasons:
1) a possible vaccum leak
2) a misalignment between parts somewhere in the airway
i understand the "whistle" that you are talking about, but the only help i can offer is to check these two possibilities.

vacumm hose huh? ill take a look at it. the noise started rite after the intake was put on. there was never a whislting noise w/ the factory box on. a girl i know w/ an ex civic with a shortram also makes the whislte. i also here alot of people w/ civics talkin bout this noise. is it all civics w/ shortram intakes that makes the whistling?
ok heres the final answer...ITS NOT THE INTAKE! i was bored and took out my intake and ran with an open throttle body and i hear the whistling louder than ever. The weird thing i found out it only happens when i have the gas pedle down about 25%. It doesnt matter what gear im in or what rpm im in BUT it only happens when i have the gas pedal down 25%. If you still think its still the intake then put the stock box on without the resonator and run it and you will still hear it but it will just be quiter. Hope this helps solve our problem.
OK guys here is the deal, that whistling sound is not ur intake or the filter or the manifold, it is actually caused by the throttle body! If u look in the throttle body u can see the small holes at the outside edge, those are the idle air holes so your car will not die with the throttle closed, the increased airflow will cause the air to move across these holes faster and hense the whistle, its the same principle as a real whistle. So thats the answer and no you can not get rid of it. thank you
