Default about to buy a integra GSR

Hi guys,

I am pretty much new to Honda motors, but I am about to buy a 95 acura integra GSR. The car has 195k miles on it. I also want to go forced induction on the vehicle. I want to know if you guys think it would be a good idea to buy the car, since it has that high of miles. And if I do buy the car, should I rebuild the engine comepletly? My friend said I should get a compression check done, and if it fails the compression check, I shouldn't even buy it. What do you guys think? Thank you for your time.

if your dead set on going the FI route, then save yourself some trouble and buy an LS with lower miles.

of course you have to check the car 1st, before you reach your wallet. and ya since car has pretty high miles. stay away from turbo might be a good idea. if you have money always good idea to rebuild engine.
*done forget to check body. under(rust, dent, bodywork has been done.*if u open the hood and see bolts that hold fender, if there is paint chipped off from bolt head, it has been un-bolted somereason.)

good luck!!

Well, if you have the time and patience to re-build the motor completely - i'd say go for it.. make sure you check the transmission, suspension, and motor mounts.. go through standard procedure when buying a used car - don't assume its been taken care of because its a GSR.

But if your plan is to go FI, like Ethereal said, and you're going to stick with it.. go with an LS - it'll save you some money and chances are it would be less beat up than any GSR

yes, checking the compression on all cylinders would be a wise decision. Also look at small things that would tip you off if the car had been taken care of or not. pull a spark plug and take a look at it, bring a magnet and check for any spot on the body that it won't stick to (body filler, accident in the past), uneven tire wear shows they didn't care enough to keep proper psi.

How much do they want for it?

I wouldn't go turbo if i was you.

KBB value 5,440

Private Sale Value 3,470

Trade in Value 2,070

All of these were assuming it was in GOOD condition

damn guys you ARE QUICK haha...well, the guy wants 5400 for the car. I am kind of hesitant towards it cuz, well lets put it this way...its KINDA RICE. Its got a body kit...E/I/H and all of that other stuff...he says its had a tune up two months ago. But I am very nervous about buying a used car. Before I bought a mitsubishi eclipse GST, and that gave me nothing but problems.

So if I want to go forced induction, I should go with a LS? so if I wanted Vtec, I would just get a vtec head? correct...sorry I am kinda new with this stuff. Thanks for your time.

i would buy a stock car if i were you. you said yourself the car is rice etc. so i think it's safe to say it's had the **** driven out of it. if you get an LS and you want vtec for whatever reason, you'll need to do a LS/vtec conversion. do a search on it and you will see there is alot of controvery on it. Since you don't know much about it, have it done by a reputable shop that has done it before, if you do go this route.
