Default Pistons, valves, and spark plugs looks funny... can somebody chime in!!!!!

Well this is a ls/vtec setup just pulled the head off because we're putting another vtec head on and to find out the valves, pistons, and spark plugs are brownish... can anybody explain whats the cause???

Anyway, That is what motor's look like after then have been run for more then 10,000 miles. It's just the way it is.

Fire will do that to metal.

If you have brown diposits on your plugs also, it can be from fuel additives. If you use alot of additives you'll get the ash deposits on your plugs. Also, it can be from a little oil seeping into the combustion chamber. If plugs are oily major oil leakage if not can be additives or change gas brands

Have you been using any kind of octane booster in your gas? It looks like these could be deposits due to MMT, a popular octane booster. MMT deposits are ususally of a reddish-brown color similar to this. I would also bet that this stuff has coated and oxygen sensor and killed both in the process. All I havr to say is stay away from this stuff. It is not good.
