Default Has anyone done there own Grill Mesh

I really dont want to shell out the $100 + for the per cut stuff, I can get basically the same stuff at home depot for $2.49 for a 6" x 20' roll. I was wondering if anybody here has done this themselves and how did you do it. Please describe the whole thing from taking out the existing stuff in the grill to how you secured the mesh in place.

Thanks!!!!

Not hard at all.. take the front bumper off to measure and make it more accurate and then cut the mesh and attach it the the stock grill (black things) w/ wire ties in the places that it looks loose just to secure it good.. i even spray painted mine white and it looked good... but for the money the grillcraft grills do a look a lot better and last longer as well..

Just get the 99-00 Civic Si front grill. I'm sure you can find them for less than $100.

Black plastic gutter guard from Lowes with zip ties and that's all I'm saying so don't even try asking thru email I'm not going to explain this again and again. It's easy to attach.

Gutter guard from Home depot or lowes. Why spend all that money on something that rocks and road debris will tear up anyways. For that money, you can get 15 sets of grills so you can replace them whenever they get too dirty for your taste. .02 cents.

I made a custom center mesh grill for my friends EK that cost me in total - $6 dollars.
$3.99 gutter mesh guards from your local hardware store and .99 cent flat back spray paint.
I took out the stock center garnish and if you notice there are screws back there to hold it down. I cut out mesh ( with a wire cutter makes your life so much easier ) sized enough to be able to be screwed down to the original spots and sprayed it black on both sides before applying. Looks great, sorry no pics but it looks like the grill from above.

I have noticed that all the grills shown are on 96 to 98 vehicles . Heres the kicker , I own a 2000 . I have compaired both grills and both grills are different . The 96-98 grill (if I remember correctly) is shorter in length and shorter in height . Guess honda wants everything to get bigger ( go figure) . Anyways I have done the grill chopping thing with my car . Besides it looking like poo poo and me having to wrap the black plastic in black vynil (to cover up scrapes from cutting grill out) . go get the CTR grill or one made my ((Gasps))) APC . Just have a good shop paint it and then install it .

If you have a 99 or 2000 Civic, just get the insert off the Civic Si and take off the front emblem. You can't beat OEM stuff with some Home Depot chicken wire.
