WHo runs Synthetic oil in there cars??
i'm running synthetic in my motor, and the other day i asked my friend w/a gst eclipse...if he was running syn. also...and he told me no! he said that it supposedly leaves a thing film of oil in the turbo, therefore he doesnt run it...is this true...cause i kno i cant switch back now!! bad for the turbo?? ugh tia.chris
I use Mobil 1 synthetic. I have even heard that on the owners manual of the Porsche 911 TT the manufacturer recommends ONLY Mobil 1 synthetic blend. That should make it clear.

i use 10W30 on mobil 1 synthetic.....conventional oil in an high performance engine?.....conventional breaks down on hard runned engines think about what it would do on turboed engines..........
I'd recommend heavier weighted synthetic oil if you boost often. Think about it: A turbo spins 100k+ rpms.. producing a TON of heat. Thin oil will just break down faster than heavier oil. It's an old wives tale that thin oil is better cuz it'll get into the turbo's bearing seals better.. bleh. I recommend atleast 10W ... i'll be using 15W.
That's actually a good point Rob. Perhaps 10w for winter and 15w for summer is better for me, especially in this heat-hole I live in.
