Skunk2 coilOWNERS
I put the skunks on my civ hatch. the directions said to put the LONGER sleeves in the FRONT and shorter in rear. So I did. I swear, looking at my car, the sleeves allow the front to drop further than the car should be allowed to, and the rear appears as though it SHOULD be able to sit lower. Did anyone put the longer ones in the rear or did I just read the directions wrong?
i think my skunk 2 sleeves were both the same length, but my kit is 3.5 years old now so there might be some minor changes. If you cut the cup that holds the stock springs on the rear shocks you can lower the rear 1.5 - 2 inches more.
you have adjustable springs. youre free to adjust them.
if you had shorter springs up front, then that would allow you to get even lower.
if you had longer springs in the rear, then you would not be able to get as low.
so it makes sense they make the front spring longer... doesnt it?
but youre free to swap them if you wish...

There are some numbers on each spring get those numbers I can tell you from the numbers with spring goes in the front and which goes in the back. # will be 0700.250.008 the .008= 400lbs=front one As said above the stiffer spring goes to the front. Also I have different length sleeves in both of my kits but for the life of me I can't remember which one goes in the front and which goes in the back.
No no no, mis-communication. I bought the kept in september ish so I would imagine it's the newest series. These are the SPORT COILS. Meaning they don't have struts with the, but the springs are the same length, and all 4 have the same number coding. What I'm contraversial over is the SLEEVES ONLY. They're the same setup and appear to be able to swap (front to rear, rear to front) it's just the directions said to place the longer sleeves in the front and the shorter sleeves in the rear. I think their directions may be wrong and it's supposed to be the other way. The rear I've got lowered all the way, and have SLIGHT wheel gap. The front I have about half-way, and I get a decent amount of rub.
And has anyone put the longer sleeves on the rear instead of the front?
Sorry for the miscommunication.
Thanks again for any help

i have the same problem but both the front and back coils are all the way down. my front is tucked but i have about a finger gap i nthe back. wut it is well for mine is the cup holding the springs. so see if thats ur problem and if it is then u can cut it in half or if u have the tokico blues. the cup and be removed and flipped the other way.
Hmm, not quite what I"m looking for. I think I'l just put the rear on the front, and vice-versa and see how that works out. I don't want my front slammed as much as it allows, and I want the rear to sit slightly lower.

Are you commenting towards me? Because if so...and you would read...you'd understand that's not my problem, and read that all four coils have the same numbers, height, and stiffness. If I mis-read your comment, I apologize for being defensive.
I don't see why you couldn't switch the sleeves, it's your car/suspension, you can set it up how you want. I think thats how the setup on my car is too though, the fronts can go about an inch or so lower than the rear can go. Next time around I think I'll just put the longer sleeves on the back and see what happens.
Its kinda off topic since you said it isn't the issue, but the springs shouldn't be the same unless you custom ordered them. The fronts should be 0700.025.008S and the rears should be 0700.025.006S. I 'think' they are 500 lb and 450 lb respectively.

I would have thought the front would differ from the front. But I SWEAR they're the same. WTF, maybe skunk just sent me an eff'd up kit. *shrugs* I think tomorrow (well...today) I'll just lift it up and switch front/back and second-check those springs.
My set had different rates as well, but I put the harder ones in the back.
The sleeves really don't care if they're in the front or back. Does not change a thing.
Swap them around if you need to.

Ok, ya'll. Got some updates and some of this crap has me lost. Went through the directions for install. According to the directions, I"m supposed to have two types of springs. According to the directions, one pair is .010S and the other pair is .008S. I looked over my springs (only the back ones) and discovered two things. 1) There ARE two types of springs (I do apologize to limpy for being snappy). 2) however, they're .006S and .008S. Which differs from the directions provided by skunk.
So my questions are this:
1) Which ones to which half (.006S to front or rear?)
2) What are the spring rates on both of these pair?
Thanks for any help!
And again, sorry limpy for being snappy.

well same for my skunks, the front drops more than rear. my rear is maxed out lowest and it still looks higher than front. the front look slike you can drop it until it starts scraping the fender well, but i guess thats just how it is. i forgot but i think the longer ones do go in front. you def dont want to put the stiffer springs in the rear. if you want to make the rear lower, then you could take out one of the adjusting rings(the rings that the springs sit on) in the rear, and just have only one ring resting at its lowest point. but remember that you can no longer raise it on demand after that.

SOMEONE TEACH ME TO READ THESE NUMBERS ON THE SPRING!!!!
What if I beg?</TD></TR></TABLE>
the last number is the spring rate in Kg/mm units.
6 kg/mm = 336 lbs/in
8 kg/mm = 448 lbs/in
multiply by 56.
