If you are referring to my post, I was referring to the the new 2005 Lotus Elise you can buy at any Lotus dealer. That one comes with what I believe is the engine from the recently deceased Celica, I know for sure that it is a Toyota 4.

a few years ago there was a story in SCC about a company in britain making elise's with B18C5s, so those exist too.

I remember that article. That's the one I would want. I would love an elise (even if it does have toyota power)...but I don't know about that price. Worst part is my wife wants to get one!

SCC also had an old Mini with a Type R motor. I believe it was a one off thing. Guy did it himself not a company. That would sure be fun.

SCC always seems to have some cool hybrid. This month they've got a '67 Datsun roadster with a SR20VTC in it. Looks nice and that car has to be super light.

Back on target...drop an itr in a Datsun 510. I can already hear the cries of blasphemy

The answer is both are avaliable. Check out prototyperacing below. I wonder if a K24 vtec hibrid would work. Can you f'ing image, K24 power and torque on a less than 2000lbs chassis, with a close ratio 6-speed.
