high-pitch squeal
okay... i own a 94 lx 5spd coupe...... today i heard a high pitch squeal whenever i was about to shift (about 3-4000 rpms) i just wanted to know if anyone has had a similar problem,,,thanks
yeah, it sounds like it might be a loose belt. On my Civic, my alternator belt (the only belt on my car beside the timing belt) was needing to be replaced and everytime I would shift crisply I would hear just a slight curp/squeal from the engine bay. A little while later my alternator went so when I replaced the alternator I also replaced the belt and no more curp/squeal during shifting or start-up. Just check your alternator/ac belt and your ps belt. Make sure they are at the proper tension and make sure they aren't cracking or have little stones stuck in the grooves. If they looked a little cracked or have little stones in the grooves then I would replace them. If they look good then just try tightening them a bit.
