Hondata s200 == smooth vtec not much kick and pulls much harder before vtec
vtec use to kick like a mule and could really feel it engage... Hondata smoothed that out with less vtec kick -- I am using a s200 with hondata's japan prelude spec script -- it is a hondata dealer script and it does feel stronger before vtec but when vtec engages it is smooth engaging-- you know that you are in vtec but it is just smoother engaging -- he said that the ignition and fuel maps was corrected to adjust for the lapse that usually happens before vtec engages --- the tuner that did it said that smoothing and flating out the air fuel curve which happens before vtec and dropping the vtec point helps the motor make more power...
I am a noobie when it comes to hondata and the hondata forum is more for k series or civics
Any hondata s200 h22a lude drivers on this site would you briefly explain what your vtec engages like and what type of numbers you put down I would appreciate it.. the program seems excellent for daily driving -- the setup is a p72 usdm with s200 hondata

i have no idea what you setup is on the car but you might have been able to "feel" vtec because your car had a large increase in trq at vtec cross over which means the motor would benifit froma lower vtec engaugement point.
who ever tuned your car or setup your map may have known a bit more aobut your setup and lowered the vtec engaugement point
belive it or not alot of tuners will actually tune a car and then raise the engaugement point to make the customer really "FEEL" vtec kick which actually makes the motor perform crappier just so you "FEEL" it better
i guess wha im trying to get to is that in a properly tuned car the car should pull all the way thru the power band and you should not feel vtec engauge harshly.. a good smooth powerband is the best and you will feel less of a jump in trq if the car is tuner right.
your title sucks

what should I have titled my thread then ... The tuner does nothing but hondas and said that a smoother powerband makes more power... which makes sense I was just wanting to see if anybody else that uses the s200 on a h22a has the same smooth vtec powerband it reminds me of my R6 as it is just alive from the start and pulls hard up to the limit and loves the revs....
My vtec is at 4800 and it's fairly seamless. You can feel it a little, but the extra sound from the exhaust is the most noticeable part. It was much more harsh before the Hondata and tuning.

exactly, with alittle tuning to smooth out the trq curve vtec engaugement is usually pretty smooth

I have more plans that is why I switched to hondata -- I was thinking turbo but am now leaning more towards nitrous.... I am going to the track with it later towards the end of the month I am switching back to 15s and gutting the interior the tuner said I should hit 13s maybe high 12s quarter we will see -- ludes are all very very heavy....
one neat thing though I saw a TSx k24 engine in a 2005 civic si -- the 200hp rated engine.... it filled the whole and I mean whole bay up but it fit....
