Default is it necessary to....

im getting new camshafts soon sk2s1 and was planning on installing springs..how important is it to install retainers as well??? what difference would it make if i dont??? the valves are bent and must be replaced also..i was looking at omni power..they sell the springs, retainers, and the valves for 540..is it worth it to get the combo and save 30 bux or just go with buying valves and springs and using stock retainers??

If your willing to spend the $540 then do it, if your looking for a low budget set up then go with like some ITR valves and you can also use ITR valvetrain for Skunk stage1's. The thing though is since you have bent valves your gonna have to pay for a valve job anyways if you buy either Omni or if you use ITR valves, so its gonna be $$$ no matter what. What are your overall goals for your set up, how much hp you want to make, what do you plan on revving to, are you going to leave the bottom end stock? Let us know and we can guide you.

well i already have the head at the machine shop getting a valve job as well as a port n polish...my overall goal is to have a nice street car that i can take to the track on the weekends...im not gonna touch the bottom end until i have to...i think with a well built head i should be able to rev to 9000 with no problems...i wouldnt wanna go any higher just for the fact that i dont know if the block will hold up...

its a jdm b16/y1 tranny(getting a ys1 lsd soon)
3 inch diameter short ram intake
maxbore TB 64 to 62 mm taper
aebs intake mani
str fuel rail
b&m FPR
dc 4-2-1 header
aem adjustable cam gears
msd sci box wit blaster ss coil(have not installed yet)
vafc
i dont know what kinda power its makin now..im guessin 140 to the wheels..does this sound correct...what do u think i will be makin when i install all the valvetrain and the cam...i kinda wanna go stg 2 now...what do you guys think??
