Im about to order a chipped p28 ready for hondata. The questions i have
1. does the program you pick for the ECU really matter if you are going to get it tuned?
2. How long can you ride on the ECU before you get tuned?
3. Do the people that chip ECUs make a custom map that matches your set up, even though you are going to tune it?

1. yes the basemaps need to be for the correct engine. tuning just tweaks these numbers to match the changes in air, spark, and fuel delivery made by bolt-ons.
2. depends on how well it runs your motor. if its the right rom for your engine, and you don't have anything too serious done to the motor, then you could ride it as long as you need to.
3. rom's can match your setup, although they cannot know exactly what your car needs on the first try. you would need to test the rom with a wideband o2, then make changes to the ignition and fuel maps (just another way of tuning).
