Finally PASSED emissions! $250 and countless hours later.
Anyone else hate emissions testing? It took me $250 to replace the 2 damaged o2 sensors that must have been damaged when I got the motor- $75 a piece, and replaced a 3 year old cat that was $hit for like 80, and I found out that the ecu I purchased off e-bay had some no name chip in it, so that had to be re-chipped, another like $20.
The thing is even over the limit, I was still not putting out anywhare near what trucks or larger cars put out. I learned through a friend who used to work for an emissions testing center, that each car has different requirements, and some cars and large trucks can put out alot more emisions than smaller cars. Each car has a different requirement as far as how much emissions they can put out. Even different years, and different models. There is even a difference between the crx si, and the crx dx. I just don't think that is fair! Anyone else?
Sorry for my venting... time to register my car in a different county.

Yes emissions testing is based on engine displacement and varies from model to model. It may not seem fair but it is how it is done and is only going to become worse as the government tightens emissions laws even further.
In wisconsin it is only in milwaukee county, a few others just around milwaukee, madison and that is it. 90% of wisconsin doesn't have to worry about it. I guess I am just one of the lucky ones.
Yes it is usually around any large cities. Like for instance here near philadelphia, pa they classify the 5 counties surrounding philadelphia(bucks, chester, montgomery, delaware, and philadelphia counties) as metro counties which are subjected to emissions testing. I believe they are going to expand it further to other counties in the near future.

Yeah, PA was the only place I lived where I never had to worry about smog/emissions tests. In CA I barely passed every other year with my bone stock ranger ca model ranger.
At least in NV the tests are much eaiser, and every smog place you go to there is a sign that says "The tester gladly appreciates tips".
