Project Duration...(for all who've had project cars)
I am curious as to how long it took you complete your street/strip or drag car, I'm guessing mine is going to take until late next summer until its totally done. I live in a state w/ cold winters and if I can get my garage heated I might be able to shave some time off of how long it takes.
10 months, then broke the stock diff (on the 9th pass) & have been down for another 7 months & will probably be another (at least) 4 months to have the car ready again.
It's all time and money. I did Sindicate's car, full tube chassis, in 3 months. You'll find that the time varies GREATLY and it's usually because of money.
Also, some good advice would be do it right the first time, always leave room for improvement, take your time & dont wait until the last minute...theres alot more but those are the ones I've pretty much fucked up on (and plenty more
)
Dont be like me & be down for 2 years (and counting)

took me one year exactly. You really need to plan and treat it like a job and focus on goals. Half the time is killed on waiting on other people (vendors, machine shop, fabricators). Just stay focused and inspired.

Ive been down around 2 years as well. The biggest problem really comes down to money. Building a t4/sfwd car can get really expensive. But when its all complete it will be well worth the money and time invested.
About a year and a half. School and not having time during the summer because I was working 70 hour weeks caused my project to take so long. And Super-T Motorsports...

For sure, but a decently competitive HR car when you're still in school is even harder!

Started on it in 1999. After 3 kids and building a new house. I am almost finished. Also changed my mind on motor type & trans twice.
mine has been 2 years and a bit, will probably be 3 by the time my car is totally done. having all the money is big, thats what takes time. doing things right the first time is hard when your on a budget... makes things take longer. my advice to project starters, is make a good, realistic budget/plan and stick to it, changing your mind cost money.
In Reality, been working on it since 1997
Actually getting somewhere though has waited until this year.
I have several parts that haven't made it to the car yet and they are pretty much just going on so I can make some passes with the car.
I have another (read: hotter) engine coming together, but I need to make a decision on displacement and stroke. Once that's settled, I'll purchase the parts and sell off what I don't need.
I'm intially putting the car together for test n tunes locally here and another event in July before BOTI at California Speedway.
For that early July event the car will sport the same 97,000 engine it came with, but since it was a gross polluter, I had to correct a few things and it will be put back in for smog testing so I can get my tags for the car in another week or so.
The suspension will go on this weekend I hope in some form or fashion.
I'm actually tired of all the parts delays, seem I have to ORDER everything.
I would post pictures but there's nothing to look at really...

i didnt have the time to do what i wanted to do with my car so its not how i want it at all. the whole thing was put together in a couple weeks. i do have to admit its going down the track nicely though. no project is ever finished....hell i tried 4 differnt motor combonations in 4 differnt weekends.....i found the one im going to stick with though!
After so many half *** honda's, I decided to take however long it takes to build everything I ever wanted. It's basically going to be as fast of a SPFWD car as I can afford. The key to my calmness is knowing that I have as long as it takes (this helps when you change your mind once a week about **** too) and when I spot a little part for a good deal that I want to eventually put on the car I buy it.
Even though the car probably won't be done for another 2 years, it's super exciting to get a new sparco steering wheel for a gift. Those little items that you know will one day make it to the car keep you tied over.
Here's some of the short progress. The car is completely stripped of all interior and wiring right now waiting for cage, interior, paint. I'm not even worrying about the motor right now.
