been reading... i notice on almost all front door applications, speakers do not fit because their depth/magnet are alot larger. my del sol only allows 2 inches of depth... the focal polyglass/access 6.5 i want to get are about 3 inches in depth. so how is this going to work?

 

I put Diamond Audio componenets in my door and had to modify the speaker stock speaker mounting plate. You need to look at your stock speaker and see if the 2" depth is because of the mounting basket, or because of the car window or door supports behind the speaker opening. If its just the basket you can cut the bottom of it out to fit deeper speakers.

 

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by idriveadelsol7 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">been reading... i notice on almost all front door applications, speakers do not fit because their depth/magnet are alot larger. my del sol only allows 2 inches of depth... the focal polyglass/access 6.5 i want to get are about 3 inches in depth. so how is this going to work?</TD></TR></TABLE> Use the stock speaker mounting basket as a template to make yourself new custom MDF mounting plates, if you use the oem mounting basket as a template onto 1/2" MDF so you get the right shape so you can use the stock mounting screw holes, [the ones that held the oem mounting basket to the door] then all you have to do is see how much more "hight" you need, you have a 1/2" plus about 1 1/2" into the door, so you will need another 1", cut yourself a MDF "ring" with an outside diam. the same as the speaker, cut a hole in it with the speakers mounting hole diam., now glue the "ring" to the mounting "plate", cut a hole in the plate, bingo you have a custom MDF speaker mounting brackets, or is you want to go the easy way, [speakers will not sound as good] remove the plastic speaker mount, cut a hole in the back big enough for the speaker magnet to fit through, remount and you will see that you have about 2 1/2" of depth, so all you would have to do is make a 1/2" MDF ring to make up the diff. it would work like a big fat gasket.
