Whats a good all motor setup for my b18c5?
I was planning on goin turbo and having big horsepower but now i dont have the big money to back it up. Last year i tore down my motor after a misshift and havent done anything since, had plans to go turbo but i dont know when that will be. I have been thinking about goin all motor and have been searching but there are so many things to do.
I am wondering what would the best/ streetable setup is?
I dont have the biggest budget but i would still like to have a great setup
I know i will be told to search but i would like to know what you may have and how you think it is.
thanks

with ctr pistons can i use my my stock rods and what would be a good head gasket and valve train to go with it. Then also what would be a good head gasket and timing to suit this setup?

Assuming you are doing this on an ITR motor, with PCT's you're going to be running 12:1 compression with the OEM headgasket. You're gonna want the 93 octane gas and a good tuner to get this to run reliably. Some will disagree here...
I would rather go with some stock overbore pistons with maybe a spoon or mugen headgasket and run around 11.3:1 with the JDM ITR pistons. Depending on what octane gas available and how skilled your tuner is, this would be on the safer side.
Since you're on a budget, you'll want to use your stock rods. You may want to have them shotpeened, upgrading the rod bolts would be a plus. A cheap solution ito use some of the more milder cams out there are to use ITR yellow outers on both the intake & exhaust with portflow inners. This will be safe to under 12mm lift, as said by Tom from portflow.
With the machine work and all the OEM stuff you're gonna want to replace, I don't now how much you'll have left over. I would go with a free flowing exhaust and tune it. You probably wont' have any left over... if you haven't gone over already. Building motors are expensive, every little thing adds up, I just went through this process.

oversize ctr with oem headgasket...it pulls hard!
or another pretty cool setup is jdm itr over size pistons, spoon/ mugen head gasket, supertech or other brand flat valves....that would do the job

What are pct's? What size overbore, i mostly see .25 over i think and what are the benifits from that. And what would the compression be with the ctr pistons?
My budget is a rough estimate but i may have more to spend soon.....so if was too what cams would you recommend and i def. have to replace the valves from the mishift and wanted to pretty redo the topend.
I appreciate all the info you guys are offering me i can never get to find exactly what i am looking for by searching.

alright been doin some searching and i can either run ctr pistons with a stock headgasket but idk how aggressive of cams i can use or p30's with a thinner head gasket and more of an aggressive cam.....im not sure this info is correct so im just checking.
I dont want to mill my head because one day in the future i may want to go FI so what would i be better off doing?

What kind of gas is available to you, and how good are the tuners are available to you?
Do P30s even fit on ITR/GSR rods? If my memory serves me right, P30s are what people use for lsvtecs so they don't have to machine their LS rods.
This build is regarding a B18C block with GSR or ITR rods right?

nope its not....well not here because we get 92 octane
edit: trust me, get the oversize .25 ctr pistons installed...bore your block .25 ...get a stock headgasket and run skunk2 stage II cams or toda b's and call it a day with a hondata s100 and tune it..you will own the track pretty good for a super mild setups

i can get 93 octane here..........i am using a b18c5 block with itr rods........my freind told me to go with the same setup that you said with the ctr and skunk stage 2's.......with that setup how high could i rev out to?
ok im gonna order my parts from Len and i was wondering what i need to order and what i can reuse?
ctr pistons comes with rings and wrist pins from jdmland
itr oill pump
rod bearings
main bearings
oil pickup gasket
water pump
idler pulley
timing belt - stock or aftermarket one???
oil pan gasket
rear main seal
head gasket
exhaust manifold gasket
intake im going with hondata
valve cover gasket and spark plug gaskets
pcv valve
i heard i should up grade the rod bolts ?
def need to upgrade head bolts correct?
idk what else i am going to need for a complete rebuild?

And i think a b18c5 with PCT pistons will raise compression a bit higher than 12.1 . You should also consider some cams like buddy club 3+'s that will give you good mid-range power along with a better header and something to tune with.

well i ordered some o.s. pct pistons and was goin to order everything from len but i cant distinguish the colors on the bearings and he said there was a way too with the block numbers and rod numbers and crank. does anyone know how to do that?

i have been reading back and forth some say 12:1, 12:4, highs 12's idk what i should do i made another post to see what i should do. i recently got bc spec 4 cams with the valve train and it came with a thin head gasket but i also have a stock haedgasket but i am wondering if i should go with forged pistons like 11:5 comp or p30's instead of the pct's. it seems every thread there is about pct everyone scares people away from these and i want/need reliablity and dont wanna rebuild soon
just buy some cp's or je's and call it a day. You should build what you want man! Are you worried about reliabilty or power. Just run my setup 12:5:1 je pistons, eagle rods, crower valvetrain and crower cams. Should easily make 200 whp with your head and a good header!
