i'm having a debate over racing seats.

i'm trying to explain why you shouldn't cheap out on a good quality racing seat.

so what i'm asking the pros is what makes the difference between a good quality racing seat (recaro,omp,bride, sparco.....) against no name seats like tenzo and made in taiwans stuff.

these are for fake recaro srd recliners.

build quality?
material?
design?
crash worthyness?
finish?
reliability?
reinforement?

 

Often, the cheaper ones are tubular steel instead of fiberglass or CF...heavier, less comfortable (in my opinion, i hate how the tubes dig into the sides of your legs). In general though, it's a combination of the build quality, fabric, etc...and think about a seat in an accident, do you want to skimp? Your list is pretty comprehensive...you get what you pay for.

 

Add SFI/FIA approval.

Exactly,there is a reason the others are not.

 

The difference is :-

Comfort :- no name seats as said before , tubular, and the base ( where you as-s sits ) is made of laced springs ( like a tennis racket ) . when you sit in one of these and you ride over a bumpy road you get a ride similar to that of cut springs ( bounce) . And as said before , they dig into your skin . BRAND seats offer more comfort .

Safety :- when in an accdent NO names seats ( once not SFI/FIA approved) tend to break , crack , bend , etc . this causes you to be thrown around the car in and accident , Once again BRAND seats don't do this .

Support :- in high speed cornering BRAND seats allow you to keep the correct seat position instead of sliding around .
