I agree. The LS has 1.8, if you think that's slow then imagine a 1.6L engine. Vtec or not, it's still a smaller motor with less torque.
As far as sleeving it and crap like that, why do all that when you can just get a GSR or better yet, a GSR block with a B16 head? Or if you're strapped for cash and up for a challenge, go ls/vtec.
But dont put a straight B16 in your car, you wont like it until Vtec kicks in.

i dont like the gsr the ls has more pull off the line than a gsr i've taken out gsr's with my ls motor i need a full swap my motor is leaking oil or burning it either one just dont want to swap in a gsr i might a type r but not a gsr
ok so why ask about a b16? a gsr has more power. with the money you spend for a type r you could do a gsr with **** done to it. do an H22 then, we had onein a 95 hatch and it was fast as hell
If you think out of the box, like the japanese do, then yes, do the b16. WHY?
1. Better fuel economy.
2. Lighter (save weight).
3. JDM YO!
4. You'll be unique.
In japan, they have 1.6 L sohc in thier integras.

if you think your gonna be unhappy with the lack of torque with a GSR, then you'll be REALLY unhappy with the b16. even if you do bore it out and all that, it just isn't worth it. if i were you, i'd swap in a b18c, and go form there.

the GSR is slower off the line cause the GSR car is heavier (sun roof.. power everything.. blabla)
but it has as much torque plus 40 more HP the your LS.
the lighter car will always be fater, that 's why you're faster off the line.
just get a EG Hatch, slap a GSR in and call it a day
but seriously, just Turbo your LS

speaking from experience i have a b16 in my dc2 as a donor till i get my new motor built, i gotta say i was suprised, it pulls pretty hard considering the size of the car and the size of the motor. if money is an issue...go with the b16 other wise i would say gsr hands down.
well... if your car really needs a swap, you have 3 options
save for a gsr or swap
buy a b20.
or rebuild the ls
personally, i'd go with a b20, its cheap, easy and you have potenial later (head swap or b20 T) i say it's easy because you can use the same harness, ecu, ect ect for the swap, its very basic (and cheap). ++ you will love the low end
but if you dont need a swap, i'd just stick with ur ls, head swap if u want more high end power. Im a FIRM BELIEVER in hybrid honda motors as long as they are done properly. the ls motor is amazing with the high flowing vtec head. if u have any question's on "frank" motors hit me up on aim. hanisbb21.

1. go on the highway with a b16 tranny and the fuel economy is lower
2. the engines weigh the same
3. uhhh
4. refer to #3
It sounds like you should buy a fresh LS motor now, and later try to go with an LS/VTEC setup if you have the cash

Consider this: an Integra RS weighs less than a Civic Si. People don't bitch about stock Si's, so why should they bitch about Integra's. A stock LS or GSR weighs close to what an Si weighs. It's actually a very potent combination. Once of my best friends is running a B16 with ITB's and a Toda header in their 95 Integra (with full interior) and loves it. I've seen bone stock B16's in DC Integra's with very happy owners. Just because it's not a 1.8 doesn't mean you won't be happy with it.
first of all an integra weight the same as an si
therefor a b16 in a integra will be the same speed as an si
which means it will still be faster than a ls when it comes to racing
but it will feel much slower when driving around the town
i use to have a b16 in my teg before and let me tell you it was slow as *****. it was super unbareable to drive arounf the town. There was absolutely no power at all before vtec. it was only very very little faster that a ls in the top end. in my opinion if you want a fast teg the only way to go is turbo

EXACTLY!!! or if you have the money and dont plan on boost, get a Type R swap.....
do NOT do a B16 swap, you will be disapointed... unless you want to run high 15's stock in the 1/4 mile...

mod for mod the gsr will own you.......

I have a 96 GS-R with a jdm b16 i/e/h/stage 1 clutch and I love it. When I race another gs-r it's neck and neck and comes down to the driver. Grantid it probably would be faster with a b18 in it but it works for me. And as for racing Si's and Ls's, they aren't a problem. I raced a Si on the highway at about a 70 mph role in, threw it in 4th and away I went. Ls's aren't a problem either. Grantid he might have had half a fender on me from the start, as soon as I grabbed 2nd and it hit vtec the race was all over. Just what I've observed.
I'd have to agree with most everyone else and say GO GSR! The only way i'd say go LS is if you were planning on going turbo...but even then id rather have a GSR...who wouldnt?
hard call to make, every motor has its own benefit. Whats you ultimate goal? turbo or all motor? Im happy with my dc4(ls). Stayed with a gsr until 75mph from a standstill.
put a GSR trans on a B16 motor and it will be hella slow in a DC chassis. The only reason why people with B16 DC's are beating LS's or keeping up with GSR's is because B16 tranny's have shorter geared trannys. They are not keeping up with other cars because of power...
