Went out today and tried to start my car and the car unlocked and when i went to start the car all the lights came on and wouldnt start. I know its alarm related because now the car will not arm or disarm. Every once and awhile it will arm and even then when i key to open the door the alarm doesnt go off.
Its strange because its been fine and ive never had a problem before. It was professionally installed. And today was the first time ever thats its been strange.
alarm: Clifford (one with tiny screen of car on it) sorry ive had it for like 2 years.
Thought i see if i could get some answers here before i try to call DEI and see if they are any help

Did the car doors unlock when you tried to start it? Could be a bad brain box if so....
If the car wont start and lights come on then the starter kill is activated. If you can't get it to arm and the lights don't flash or the horn honk then I would say it is a bad connection. But if it is also not going off when you open the door there is something definately wrong with the unit itself when you consider everything else.
Here is some advise though. The door trigger and the starter kill are on the main harness for the unit. So is the power, parking light, siren, and ground. So if this harness is loose you could be having problems too. Door trigger wire should be green, siren is brown, ground black of course, parking lights are a white wire with a fuse, starter kill should be orange, and the power wires will have fuses in them and be red. The door lock wires will be in their own harness of a blue wire and a green wire. If you are lucky the wireing diagram will be on the brain box. Also if it was installed by a certified installer it has a life time limited warranty by Directed, same people who make viper. What car is this installed on...I can give you more specifics if you need em.

well turned out to be a bad connection. But i guess i know my backup battery is dead. I thought they would get recharged like any other battery. Guess not.
