How many of you have done this conversion and how was it afterwards??
If you have any pics, could you please post them here so we can all see.
BEFORE & AFTER will be even better if you have them.

i've done it
made it somewhat better. I'm sure with a wiring upgrade the benefits of the higher wattage would be seen.

I've done it and I used the cool blue lights. First off the whiter lights are alot nicer in the dark. And it does look brigther overall. Nothing like HID's but, there is a small difference. Seems like it's not worth it but, every bit of extra light is good. And this mod is next to nothing. I've taken pics but, I'm getting them developed. I'm going to post them on here when I get them back. Check back in a week or so.
i did it b4 going to HID. They worked very nice and were very bright.

I did it with Sylvania Cool Blues about a month ago and have been very happy with the results that I have gotten with them. I had Nokya hyper whites in there before the 9005's and the 9005's are much brighter and light up the rode much better than the poo pooy high wattage blue ones. I wouldn't worry about the wattage of the bulbs, I don't think they will do any harm to the system (harness, wires). If I'm not mistaken, the wires are the same gauge running to the high and low beams on the G3 teg, so using high beam bulbs in your low beams should not hurt a thing. The 9005 cool blues only put out 10W more than the stock 9006's, and there are plenty of people out there running 80W-100W Nokya's or PIAA without any problems, so the 60W-65W 9005 cool blues should not be any strain at all for the car.
Just do it, the light output is great, and reflects everything so much more than blue bulbs.
Hope that helps,
Jon

i too had the nokya wrtic whites, for over 2 years without problem, one recently burned out and im back to stock. I right away noticed not only the old color, but actually more light on the road with the stockers. I liked the looks of the nokyas but i would be willing to try the cool blues if the output was there and more light was on the road.
I did this mod last week, and it seems like a pretty good improvement over the stock headlights. I used the Sylvania Silverstars, which I've heard people say are the best bulbs to do this mod with. After reading all of the posts and information on this mod I was actually kind of dissapointed with the light output with the new bulbs. Everybody was saying that they look bright as hell, and that there was a slight blue tint to them. But after putting in one bulb I tested it against the stock bulb. The Silverstar was brighter and much whiter than the stock bulb, and it did have a very slight hint of blue to it. So overall I was kind of impressed with it, but by no means was I blown away. It's a nice upgrade from stock, but they're no HID's. For the money though I would say thats its a great mod to do to your car, and more light is always good.
Now I have to get SuperWhite bumper lights for my clear bumper lenses to go with the SilverStars, because in my opinion it looks like dogpoo poo with bright white headlights and yellow bumper lights.

Hello.......
I just posted saying that I used Silverstars.
They are pretty bright compared to the stock bulbs. I even got a chance to see the difference between the SilverStars and the Cool Blues. My roomate just happens to have Cool Blues in his truck so we compared them and saw the SilverStars were a little brighter and a little whiter. Overall I would say if your going to do the mod use the SilverStars.

I did the mod with Cool Blue 9005's.
I'm pretty happy with it.
The light is not very noticeable looking at the car, so it isn't too ricey, but when driving it... it's very noticeable.
I haven't tried to aim my bulbs or anything, but I noticed the light reaches out a lot further. With the stock lights, when I turned my brights off, I felt blind with just my lowbeams, but now it's not nearly so bad.
The one weird thing though, is since the projectors point downward, you notice exactly where your lights end.
if you're going uphill, they seem to go on forever.. but when you're on flat ground, the lights end abruptly.
All in all, this is a very worthwhile thing to do.
It's easy to do, it's cheap, and it's pretty nice.
It certainly isn't an HID replacement, but it's better than stock yellow bulbs.
BTW... GE Reveal bulbs for your house are cool as hell.
I now have ricer lights in every fixture of my house. The light is MUCH whiter.
It brings out a lot more white on my walls, and color in everything in my room.
Highly recommended.

I did it last week only cause I couldn't stand the low light produced by the stock 9006's. I just put in the cheep, $7.97 of peice, 9005's and the light is alot brighter and easyer to drive at night. It was worth the $16.00. I still want HID's someday.

If you can afford it, use 9005 Silverstar bulbs. This is by far the BEST headlight mod short of real HID's. Stock 9006 is 51W, and 9005 is 60W, so 9 watts difference, but 70% increase in light output (1700 lumens vs. 1000 lumens for 9006).
Don't use high wattage bulbs, you will most likely burn up wires, housings, possibly even the headlight switch on the stalk (I have heard of this happening, since Hondas don't use relays on the headlights).

I too have done the Cool Blue headlight conversion. Great Mod. I've had them in for quite a while now and no problems. I got the bulbs 'buy one, get the second at half off'. So I spent like 22 bucks. Great bang for the buck.
