Default I have '89 DX HB, Will a SI gauge cluster work without a rewire?

Is it plug and play or does this need a rewire to work. Want a tach will go pillar mount if this won't wrk easy.

As long as you use a cluster from an 88-89 it will be plug and play.

What he said!

I've got a '91 in my '90, works great.

Check http://www.thepartstrader.com that's where I got mine.

same thing w/ a 91 Hatch DX? (as far as, if I use a cluster from a 91 Si, it will be plug and play?)

What about the fit? Will I need to cut anything, or will it fit right in?
-------------------------
Grr...nvrmind about the plug and play part, I just read the post above mine... heh heh heh...what about the fit 91civic? did that go in smoothly for you?

Edit: DOH!!!!!!!!!

88-89 Si's work fine in 88-89's
90-91 Si's work fine in 90-91's
AND YES, plug and play

Only thing is, your tach will be off by 300 rpms (average). Honda tachs aren't too accurate. Price of a dash can get you a tach.

I just did a 90 CRX Si cluster in my 89 DX, it was not plug & play, not hard at all to rewire. I used Eric B's SiR instructions to figure it out. It was really easy. You will need the cluster cover too if you go with the newer one. HTH

Good point to consider. reading 300 rpm low could cause you to kill the motor without knowing it. Since I have a ZC that is important. Guages on the Pillar are a Cop magnet. Was trying to avoid that attention.

Im sure if you get a 88-89 cluster you would be allright...the haynes manual has schematics in the back also that sometimes help with wiring...And you can get a full schematic from the dealer. I know when I put a tach in my 93cx (r.i.p./stolen/crashed) I had to run a wire to the tach wire, which means there was a wire it just had no function cause I didnt have a tach on the cluster. Do JDM cx's and dx' come with tachs?
