Default i dont know what i should do...b20 or bore out a b16

[B]here's the situation...i want more torQue for my car. I get whooped off torQue because i have a b16 in my 96 LX. My future engine is a b20v-techturbo. of course i only want the b20 block so i can still have a v-tech head. but one of miy boys said that i can just bore out the b16 block 50 over so it can turn into a 2.1 liter. But i ask this guy if it would do anything performance wise and he said boring out the block doesnt give you torQue.

WHAT SHOULD I DO.....REMEMBER I STILL WANT TO TURBO IT AFTER.

GIVE ME IDEAS.

First, take off bold.
Second, vtec not v-tech.
Third, this will probably get locked since its so general.

Here we go, I believe you'd rather be stroking than boring (they even sell handy little kits ). But these "kits" retail for alot-o-money. You could get off alot cheaper buying a b20 block and going from there, since you already have the desired tranny and head. Around my area a b20z block will go for a few hundred.

edit- And also b20's supposedly have thinner side-walls, so they dont take to boost as well as others will. But this is a debatable subject in itself. Honestly I could go forever on this subject. Just do as-much research as you can and go from there. (search b20vtec)

And however told you adding displacement (boring) won't add to your torque numbers is an idiot. "There is no replacement for displacement" is a saying for a reason.

there is no replacement for displacement. but I have also read the cylinder walls are very very thin in the b20(not good for turbo). but remember, when you are adding .5 liter of displacement to a block, not only will it cost more than a b20 block, but you will also have to buy pistons for the b16 block you are boring. I would say buy a b20 block and have it sleeved.
